Trump Undercutting Mainstream Media Significantly

President Trump has announced that he will not attend the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.

This dinner is a major event that has been a Washington fixture for decades. It is the end point of a series of dinners and parties that goes on for days, where the Washington media snobs get together and clink their cocktail glasses and hobnob with each other, with celebrities, and then finally with the president at the big final dinner.

Naturally Republican presidents and Democrat presidents have very different interactions with the press at this dinner. That is no surprise.

This dinner is a vestige of the Old Washington where wealth and power were concentrated at the expense of the rest of America. This is precisely what Trump is seeking to reverse.

Oh, those media hounds think that Trump is making a huge mistake, that Trump is not respecting tradition, that America will now revolt against Trump.

To which says: Nonsense – most Americans probably are either cheering Trump’s decision or don’t even care or know what this dinner is. suggests that Trump should start a new tradition, to make it into a Veterans’ Dinner or a Military Dinner or a Police Dinner where he salutes and honors people who have put their lives on the line and who really care about America rather than the people from CNN and CBS who live like creampuffs and hate America.

These media people not only detest Trump but they fear him too, and for good reason. Because he is calling out the media in public to their faces by deeming them “fake news” and “dishonest” and even an “enemy of the American people” (wow!)

This is certainly undermining these media companies at the same time that they are suffering with the quadruple whammy of a lagging economy hurting their finances; tens of millions of readers and viewers tuning out their blatant bias; abysmal approval ratings among the American public; and the internet as an alternative.

Even the once-vaunted New York Times has vacated eight floors of the new skyscraper that it built for itself near Times Square. This is a sure sign that even the Times is sinking, a paper that once was considered untouchable in its reputation, power, prestige and financial stability. The Gateway Pundit reports:

The New York Times is failing miserably and is in serious financial trouble. The NYT’s financials for 2016 show massive decreases in the bottom line (net income) for the 4th Quarter and for the year. The NYT’s 4th Quarter net income was $37m, down from $52m in the 4th Quarter of 2015 for a 28% decrease. The NYT’s annual 2016 results were worse at $29m versus $63m in 2015 for a year over year decrease of 54%.

These are shocking numbers. Meanwhile the Times is being exposed repeatedly for shoddy and outright false reporting, like on the Russia story, while conservative media sources like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Breitbart News are doing just fine with no question about integrity or veracity.

Look at this Times whopper from this past weekend. The paper reported about Trump:

His speech also included a promise to throw undocumented immigrants “the hell out of the country” and a recitation of his law-and-order campaign promises.

But here is what Trump actually said:

We are also going to save countless American lives. As we speak today, immigration offers [officers] are finding the gang members, the drug dealers and the criminal aliens and throwing them the hell out of our country.

So the Times is stirring up millions of people with false reporting. Amazing. These media giants are choking on their own arrogance. They cannot even report a simple statement correctly. That reporter should be fired.

The CEO of CNN recently claimed that Trump’s attacks on CNN are not hurting his company. This is baloney. A recent list of the cable news networks’ Top 10 programs showed CNN at #9. This is the same CNN that once was the only cable news channel on the air, and was generally respected.

The White House even barred CNN from a recent press briefing. Fantastic. It’s about time that a political figure threw back in their faces what these media skunks have been dishing out for decades.

Even the arrogant Trump haters in Hollywood cannot get their act together. They announced the wrong film for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. This was the worst blunder in Oscars history on the same night that they were supposed to be trashing Trump in unprecedented fashion.

Hilarious… guess what everyone will be talking about for the next 50 years?

Perhaps these Follywood goons should focus more on making movies since they are losing money by the boatload these days, and Hollywood’s prestige and influence are sinking like a stone.

In my hometown in Massachusetts the local left-wing newspaper is hanging by a thread. Its corporate parent recently unloaded the paper on a local investor, and it could very well close, which would be a great thing.

This newspaper has spent the last 50 years promoting a hard-left agenda and bashing Republicans from Nixon to Reagan to Bush, and it is only getting worse under Trump. It would be fantastic to see it shut down. There is another smaller paper that would take its place anyway, which is a much better paper.

These media outlets have nobody but their own political bias to blame for their predicament. Thousands of people in my county refuse to read this paper, including myself, since it is so openly biased. Extrapolate that across the nation and you have a dire situation for the Dinosaur Media. Add an aggressive president Trump and the situation gets even worse.

These media companies killed themselves by relentlessly attacking every source of our national prosperity, stability and security – our corporations, our banks, our oil companies, our churches, our families, gun owners, hard-working rural white Americans, our military and police, our manufacturing firms, our pharmaceutical companies, etc.

In my town the newspaper gives overwhelming support to organized labor, and has done so for decades. Yet it was militant union activism that drove the major employer out of town and destroyed the regional economy, including the paper’s own advertising base.

These media companies never could have predicted all of this back in the flush days of the 1970s and 1980s. Perhaps they should have moderated themselves when times were good, but they never did. Thus now they are paying a very steep price, perhaps even a fatal one.
