US Must Exit Afghanistan, Obliterate Terrorists

Here are the appalling statistics about the war in Afghanistan: 2,386 US military deaths, along with 20,049 injured and more than $1 trillion spent on a war that we could never win and can never win. is calling for president Trump to pull all US forces out of Afghanistan. We have won nothing there as we continue to sacrifice our military heroes. There is nothing to defend in Afghanistan. It is a lawless wilderness of no strategic interest to the United States.

Barack Obama did the exact opposite of what he should have done in the Middle East. He pulled US troops totally out of Iraq in December 2011 but left them in Afghanistan, where more than 8,000 troops remain today.

Obama did this in order to do maximum harm to the US. He never should have pulled our troops out of Iraq. By doing so he created a security void that was filled by ISIS terrorists. This ‘threw away’ our hard-fought military victory in Iraq gained in the 8-year war.

That is why Trump called Obama “the founder of ISIS”. It really is true. These ISIS fighters are responsible for 5 years of turmoil inside Iraq, and also for the Syrian civil war, which they have fueled.

On the other hand, Obama left our troops to bleed and die in Afghanistan in a war that we can never win. But then the question remains: Why are we even in Afghanistan?

It is an awful story. After 9/11 terror mastermind Osama bin Laden was reputed to be living at a compound near the airport in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He was reported to be living there with some of his wives and children.

President George W. Bush could have obliterated them all with air strikes, and the bin Laden problem would have been solved immediately. But Bush declined to strike because of the women and children; he did not want to be responsible for killing them since the global media would have pilloried him for it. Bill Clinton allegedly declined to act against bin Laden for the same reason.

Instead the US invaded Afghanistan in October 2001 in order to get bin Laden, and has occupied it since with a totally unacceptable loss of life, injury and the expenditure of vast sums of US taxpayer money.

This, friends, is how political correctness can destroy entire nations. It is time for the US military to depart Afghanistan.

In another story about the War on Terror, Bill Gertz wrote on the Washington Free Beacon about the very first military action under president Trump, a commando raid on Yemen:

President Donald Trump … is expected to disclose newly obtained intelligence gathered during a recent commando raid in Yemen. …The White House and Pentagon are pushing back against what officials said are inaccurate news reports claiming the Yemen raid did not produce very valuable intelligence.

The Jan. 29 commando raid in Yakla village in central Yemen targeted a group of terrorists belonging to al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, the al Qaeda branch that has been linked to several terrorist attacks in the United States, including the 2015 San Bernardino and 2016 Orlando attacks. Fourteen people were killed in the San Bernardino shootings, and 49 people were shot at a night club in Orlando.

…U.S. Navy SEAL Ryan Owens was killed and six others wounded in the Yemen raid. Unconfirmed reports from Yemen said 25 civilians also were killed in the commando raid, including the daughter of Awlaki. Officials said the covert military operation produced a large volume of valuable intelligence information on the group and its activities.

Ryan Owens was the SEAL whose wife was honored by Trump during his February 28 speech to Congress. Mainstream media news reports claimed that nothing was gained from the raid in order to smear Trump. But the Trump administration strongly disagrees. Here is an excerpt from

WASHINGTON – The intelligence captured in a January raid in Yemen is “definitely helping” military intelligence analysts understand the al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula network, according to a defense official.

“There were large volumes of information that were made available that are helping us understand and further develop the AQAP network. who’s connected to who, and who some of the individuals are,” the defense official told reporters at the Pentagon on Friday on the condition of anonymity.

“I would say it’s definitely helping us understand the network,” the official said. “It’s helping us understand the network and further develop it out.” The defense official also said the intelligence was “potentially actionable.”

“I think anytime you can fix anything in time and place it’s potentially actionable, if it can be tied to nefarious activities,” the official added. “We found an awful lot of telephone numbers, an awful lot of contact information, things like that, so it helps us understand who’s within the network, and who’s tied to who, and who’s connected to who, which then allows us to draw that mosaic of what the group is, and how it’s situated,” the official said.

“And if you get that good enough, and you know that they’re bad enough, then that obviously becomes a policy question as to what you do about it,” he added.

In Afghanistan, meanwhile, we must eliminate our army of sitting ducks. Instead we need surgical strikes and raids on terrorists all over the globe to begin to take them down cell by cell, training camp by training camp. It is a much more effective strategy, although the loss of even one Navy SEAL is a sad outcome. Here is some information about Ryan Owens, who grew up in Illinois:

He was the recipient of two Bronze Star Medals, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Achievement Medal, and Commendation Medal, the Sea Service Ribbon, and three Presidential Unit Citations.

God bless SEAL Owens and his wonderful wife and children. There is so much to be proud of.

These small raids are vastly more effective and cost-effective than planting the US military in a dangerous war zone like Afghanistan, a nation that defeated everyone from the Alexander the Great to the Soviets. It now has defeated America. It is time for us to go.

Now, after years in which Obama barely fought back in the Middle East, look at this from Fox News about Yemen:

For the second consecutive night, US drones and jets continued striking Al Qaeda militants in Yemen, in a sign the Trump administration is ramping up operations as part of a broader campaign against the terrorist group long considered the biggest threat to the United States.

The U.S. military has conducted over 30 airstrikes against al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula across three provinces in Yemen, according to Capt. Jeff Davis a Pentagon spokesman. It is not immediately clear if those airstrikes continued Friday night.

According to the Foundation for Defense of Democracies Long War Journal, the U.S. military has averaged 30 airstrikes a year since 2012. In only two nights this week, the U.S. military has already exceeded the five-year average.

OK, so there you go. And now you know why terrorism flourished under Obama – because Obama never fought the terrorists. He played patty-cake with them. Trump is going to reverse this and end the Syrian and Iraq wars. Meanwhile the Washington Examiner reported:

The U.S. military has opened a new front in the war against terrorists after President Trump granted new authorities for U.S. commanders to carry out air and ground attacks against al Qaeda’s most dangerous affiliate in Yemen.

… Pentagon sources says military commanders had been frustrated by the slow approval process for strikes under President Obama, which was seen as needlessly cumbersome and often required lengthy decision memos to be submitted to the president.

Under the new procedures, sources say, Trump will remain informed, but Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and his combatant commanders will be free to take the gloves off as they see fit.

Good. It is time to hit the terrorists hard since that is all that they understand. Great things will happen once Trump ends the Middle East wars by wiping out the terrorists, which he is now doing. Both wars in Iraq and Syria have shifted to the anti-terrorist government forces because the terrorists are running and hiding from Trump. Look at this from

Syria’s foreign minister on Monday called on the country’s refugees to return home, official media reported… Walid Muallem “renewed the invitation of the government to Syrian refugees living in neighbouring countries to return to their country”, the SANA news agency said.

The minister “stressed the country was ready to receive them and grant them a dignified life”, the agency reported, as Muallem met UN refugee agency chief Filippo Grandi.

On Friday, US President Donald Trump issued an executive order to suspend Syrian refugee arrivals indefinitely and impose tough controls on travellers from seven countries, including Syria, for 90 days.

The minister spoke after President Bashar al-Assad’s forces on Sunday retook control of a key region that supplies water to the capital.

The army’s recapture of Wadi Barada from rebels comes a month after Assad’s forces pushed the armed opposition out of east Aleppo, taking back control of the whole of the northern city.

So just imagine when peace breaks out in the Middle East, which it now is doing slowly. This is something that is happening only after Trump has taken over. This is no surprise whatsoever.
