Economy Purrs in December/ Sessions Crackdown on Marijuana

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports 148,000 new jobs added in December. This is not a fantastic number, but December is a short month, with Christmas and New Years.

This brings the Trump total to almost 2 million jobs since election day 2016 when The Trump Effect started to take hold. The Dow Jones average also has broken through 25,000.

The most important number in December was in manufacturing jobs (+25,000) for a total of 196,000 manufacturing jobs added in 2017 after decades of decline. Construction added 30,000 jobs in December, also a good sign.

With accelerating job growth from the recent tax reform bill Nikitas3.com predicts that the Trump economy will create up to 20 million new jobs over the next 7 years, which is probably 10 million more jobs than we would have seen under Hillary Clinton’s static Obama-era policies.

The Trump jobs also are, and will continue to be much better-quality jobs than we had under Obama, including mining and oil industry jobs.

CNBC reported:

U.S. employers announced plans to cut 32,423 jobs in December, bringing the year’s total to a low not seen since 1990, global outplacement consultancy Challenger, Gray & Christmas reported Thursday.

The Washington Free Beacon reports about president Trump’s first year:

The number of individuals receiving benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), otherwise known as food stamps, declined by more than two million in fiscal year 2017, according to data released by the Department of Agriculture.

These numbers are a result of president Trump’s focus on an America First policy to bring jobs back to the US that were considered for decades to be lost to lower-wage nations. His slashing of unnecessary regulations is paying off big time.

This all is going to be helped greatly by Trump’s focus on US oil and natural gas development including the rich ANWR oil deposit in northern Alaska (at least 10 billion barrels) and certainly much more in that oil-rich region.

The oil, gas and coal industries are creating high-paying jobs while keeping energy prices down and stopping the outflow of petro-dollars to the Middle East; that is a great deal in three ways for America. Look at this from Fox News:

The Trump administration announced Thursday it is planning to dramatically expand offshore drilling, opening almost all U.S. coastal waters to potential oil and gas exploration and development.

The Interior Department is proposing 47 possible auctions of drilling rights in stretches of the U.S. outer continental shelf. This includes the Pacific Ocean near California, opening up waters off the state’s coast for the first time in three decades.

“Responsibly developing our energy resources on the Outer Continental Shelf in a safe and well-regulated way is important to our economy and energy security, and it provides billions of dollars to fund the conservation of our coastlines, public lands and parks,” Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke said in a statement.

The five-year drilling plan also opens up new areas of exploration off the East Coast from Georgia to Maine, where this type of drilling has been blocked for decades.

This is great news. The ‘green’ effort to thwart our domestic oil, natural gas and coal production is intended to push up prices, weaken our economy and to make solar power and windmills seem like a good deal in comparison.

That is bad news. This vicious cold weather shows how much we need our carbon fuels, and nuclear power too. There are two new nuclear reactors being built in the state of Georgia. Let us hope for dozens more nationwide in the next 10 years.

Now look at this from the Associated Press about crucial manufacturing jobs:

U.S. manufacturers expanded at a faster pace in December, boosted by a sharp increase in new orders.

The Institute for Supply Management said Wednesday that its manufacturing index rose to 59.7 last month from 58.2 in November. Any reading above 50 points to greater factory activity. Manufacturing has been expanding for the past 16 months. (Note: Trump was elected 14 months ago and his very election spurred great confidence in our economy.)

“With a report like this, I can’t do anything but smile,” said Tim Fiore, chair of the ISM manufacturing business survey committee.

New orders jumped in December to the highest level since January 2004. Production also rose.

Meanwhile the New York Times reported:

China said on Thursday (December 28) that it would temporarily exempt foreign companies from paying tax on their earnings, a bid to keep American businesses from taking their profits out of China following Washington’s overhaul of the United States tax code.

… The newly approved tax incentives in the United States could appeal to companies that are frustrated by China’s rising labor costs, ambitious local competitors and tangled legal systems, or those that would rather spend their money at home or elsewhere. And officials in Beijing have worried that the (US tax) overhaul could prove to be a challenge to Chinese laws that aim to keep money from leaving the country’s borders.

This is proof that the new Trump tax bill already is having a positive outcome even before it had taken effect in the US. The very passage of the bill has changed the world for the better.

Sessions Clamps Down on Legal Marijuana

Nikitas3.com congratulates attorney general Jeff Sessions for finally acting against marijuana. Nikitas3.com has been speaking out against marijuana for many years. It is a dangerous drug. I know of many people who have been ruined by marijuana including a wealthy businessman who was killed in an accident recently while ‘high’.

Sessions is vehemently anti-marijuana, which is legal in some states, but remains illegal under federal law. Now look at this from Fox News:

Attorney General Jeff Sessions plans to roll back an Obama-era policy that had allowed legal marijuana to thrive without federal intervention…

he Obama administration back in 2013 announced via a memo from then-Deputy Attorney General James Cole that it would not obstruct states that legalized marijuana, on the condition the drug was not allowed to move to states where it was illegal and it was kept away from children and gangs.

Sessions is expected to announce that he will rescind that memo and instead leave it to U.S. attorneys in states where the drug is legal to decide to what extent they will enforce federal laws.

The Associated Press reported that the move will likely add to confusion among users and suppliers about whether they can grow, buy and sell marijuana in states — as federal law bans it.

The government regards marijuana as a controlled dangerous substance, grouped together with drugs such as heroin. Sessions has blamed its increased use for spikes in violence in the U.S.

Sessions’ announcement will come just days after California joined states such as Colorado in permitting pot for recreational purposes. The drug will be legal for adults 21 and older, and residents will be allowed to grow up to six plants and possess up to an ounce of marijuana.

We can now expect federal agents to crack down in states where US attorneys direct them to do so. Their first target should be marijuana growing operations. Then they should go after marijuana sales shops. Once one or two shops are targeted then other shops will close for fear of arrest, seizure of inventory and prosecution.

Meanwhile look at this from the Associated Press:

Sessions’ move infuriated Republican US Sen. Cory Gardner, who said he’s placing a hold on Justice Department nominees and will try to push legislation to protect marijuana sales in states where they are legal.

Gardner is a Republican from Colorado, where marijuana is legal under state law. Gardner is a good conservative. He should be ashamed of himself. If he continues to be disruptive on this very critical issue he should get a primary challenge when he is up for re-election in 2020.

AP also reported:

(Colorado’s) former “marijuana czar,” Andrew Freedman, said Sessions’ only point was to create confusion but that the Justice Department cannot force states to make pot illegal.

Freedman, who formerly worked as Gov. John Hickenlooper’s director of marijuana coordination, said the uncertainty will make law-abiding people less likely to get involved in the market and make it harder for banks and insurance companies to justify the risk of working with marijuana businesses.

Good. Let us hope that the entire legal marijuana industry is shut down. Marijuana is called “dangerous” by the American Medical Association; we do not need another legal vice in our society.

And just to show you how dangerous its advocates are, one Massachusetts town was so anxious to get legal marijuana that it recently voted overwhelmingly against any restrictions on marijuana shops near schools. This is really sick.

And don’t think that legal marijuana would be the end of it. This is just the first step to legalizing all drugs including cocaine, heroin, LSD and others.

Frigid Weather is a Sign of ‘Warming’ to Al Gore

We might have assumed that the frigid weather of Christmas 2017 and after might finally have debunked the ‘global warming’ alarmists.

But no, friends, even frigid weather is now part of ‘global warming…’ Al Gore wrote on Twitter:

It’s bitter cold in parts of the US, but climate scientist Dr. Michael Mann explains that’s exactly what we should expect from the climate crisis

Yes, and that is precisely why they altered the name to “climate change” from ‘global warming’.

Because ‘climate crisis’ and ‘climate change’ can be applied to any type of weather. If it rains, snows, drought, tornado, hurricane, flood, extreme cold, extreme heat, it is all ‘climate change’.

Remember that Gore never mentioned frigid weather in the beginning after he won the Nobel Prize in 2006. He only warned of ‘warming’ and even called it “settled science”. But then years of cold all over the globe, like snow in New Orleans in December 2008, made Gore a laughingstock. He once gave a dire ‘warming’ address in New York City on the coldest day in years.

By the way, where is Al Gore? We don’t see much of him anymore. He is certainly too embarrassed to show his face.

But now the alarmists have changed their tune. It is ‘warming’ in the Summer and ‘climate change’ the rest of the year. Very convenient.

Here is an excerpt from the UK Independent from the year 2000:

Britain’s weather ends tomorrow with further indications of a striking environmental change: Snow is starting to disappear from our lives. Sledges, snowmen, snowballs and the excitement of waking to find that the stuff has settled outside are all a rapidly diminishing part of Britain’s culture, as warmer winters – which scientists are attributing to global climate change – produce not only fewer white Christmases, but fewer white Januaries and Februaries.

There were many claims like this here in the US too. Nikitas3.com remembers them well. These warnings about “the end of winter” came after a few mild winters in the 1990s.

But then again this is how the alarmists work. They take whatever trend is happening, like a decade of snowy cold winters in the 1960s, and then extrapolate it. That is why New Ice Age predictions came out in the 1970s from an earlier generation of alarmists – to piggyback on the 1960s. There is even a documentary on YouTube from the 1970s starring Leonard Nimoy predicting a New Ice Age. It is pretty funny coming 20 years before the warnings about ‘warming’ started to emerge.

In other words, these people just keep changing their story to fit whatever is happening outside.

Then remember that ‘warming’ is a good thing. When New England had no snow and warm temperatures in the Winter of 2015 it saved state, city and town budgets hundreds of millions of dollars in snow plowing and sanding costs while preventing tens of thousands of car accidents, dead batteries, slip-and-fall injuries, frozen pipes, heart attacks from shoveling, and more.

It is a verified fact that the Medieval Warm Period in Europe, from 900 AD to 1300 AD, allowed the peasants to prosper, to have larger harvests and even to grow taller.

Meanwhile we see tens of millions of Americans actively moving south for the Winter where they are enjoying the moderate weather there. Ask anyone if they would rather live in permanent Winter or permanent Summer and you will see what the truth is.

If you look at the population map of the world, the cold polar regions have very few people and the hot regions have many. One of the richest cities in the world is Singapore, which is almost on the equator.

This alone shows how humans have naturally reacted favorably to “warming” for thousands of years.
