Facebook, Google, Twitter Face Major Scrutiny, Criticism

Just when the populist wave is taking down many elements of socialist culture in the media, politics, Hollywood, the arts, etc., the left-wing internet giants like Google, Twitter and Facebook are coming under withering attack.

These companies have acted like they are above the rest of us, with their vast wealth and power through control of the internet and their overwhelming support for Democrats. But alas even they are coming under challenge from many quarters including the one they fear most – the federal government.

We know that these skunks are overtly censoring everyday conservative views while at the same time allowing militant left-wing threats and even terrorist narratives to remain on their sites. For instance dozens of death threats against Trump-appointed FCC chairman Ajit Pai over the net neutrality repeal were allowed to stay on Twitter like these (senders’ names omitted):

• … Anyone think Ajit Pai will be shot?
• … ajit pai should be afraid to leave his fucking house and he’s out here cracking jokes
• … Ajit Pai sounds like a fucking terrorists name to me.
• … Everybody is a Bitcoin millionaire now and nobody put a hit on Ajit Pai? What’s the point of crypto if you’re just going to use it to buy normal stuff?
• … Ajit Pai more like deserves to die
• … I wouldn’t be surprised if Ajit Pai gets assassinated tbh… :/

The Guardian newspaper in Britain recently ran a column called Tech’s terrible year: how the world turned on Silicon Valley in 2017. That article is excerpted here with a Nikitas3.com comment after each excerpt:

The Guardian reports: When Jonathan Taplin’s book Move Fast and Break Things, which dealt with the worrying rise of big tech, was first published in the UK in April 2017, his publishers removed its subtitle because they didn’t think it was supported by evidence: “How Facebook, Google and Amazon cornered culture and undermined democracy.”

When the paperback edition comes out early next year, that subtitle will be restored. “It’s been a sea change in just six months,” Taplin said. “Before that, people were kind of asleep.”

Nikitas3.com comment: Gee, kinda like the ‘sea change’ that has hit the United States since Donald Trump was elected. This sounds like a good start.

Apple also is under scrutiny for slowing down the operation of older phones after software upgrades. Apple long has been considered above criticism. But not any longer.

Even internet retailer Amazon is now coming under fire from president Trump. Apparently the left-wing US Postal Service is delivering packages for left-wing Amazon at a discount under a sweetheart deal even though USPS is up to $100 BILLION in debt.

The Guardian reports: Perhaps the biggest wake-up call has been the showdown in Washington. Congress summoned representatives from Facebook, Twitter and Google to testify over their role in a multi-pronged Russian operation to influence the 2016 presidential election. All three companies admitted that Russian entities bought ads on their sites in an attempt to skew the vote.

Nikitas3.com comment: Heck, I thought it was candidate Trump who got those ads posted. It’s funny how reality is always the opposite of what liberals say.

Look at this from Breitbart about Google:

James Damore, the author of the famous viewpoint diversity memo at Google that resulted in his firing, has filed a class action lawsuit against Google that alleges that conservatives at Google are systematically intimidated. The lawsuit alleges that, “Google employees who expressed views deviating from the majority view at Google on political subjects raised in the workplace and relevant to Google’s employment policies and its business, such as “diversity” hiring policies, “bias sensitivity,” or “social justice,” were/are singled out, mistreated, and systematically punished and terminated from Google, in violation of their legal rights.”

The Guardian reports: “The (2016) election shows the stakes involved here,” said Noam Cohen, author of The Know-It-Alls: The Rise of Silicon Valley as a Political Powerhouse and Social Wrecking Ball. “In the past, to be a critic of Silicon Valley was to say the smartphone is making us dumb. Now it’s incompatible with democracy.”

Nikitas3.com comment: Incompatible with democracy? Shocking. When before in history has one group of companies so quickly become a national pariah on such a fundamental issue? Answer: Never. These companies are frightening. They must be thoroughly investigated.

The Guardian reports: In March (2017), the Times of London revealed that YouTube had paid, via an advertising revenue share, Islamic extremists to peddle hate speech, leading to a boycott from major advertisers. A second boycott started this month (December) after brands discovered that their ads were appearing alongside content being exploited by paedophiles.

Nikitas3.com comment: No further comment needed. This sounds like the once-invincible NFL collapsing to the ground with fleeing audiences and advertisers.

The Guardian reports: Deepening pockets and growing influence of companies like Facebook, Amazon, Google and Apple has raised concerns that they have become Goliaths, threatening the innovation Silicon Valley was once known for.

Nikitas3.com comment: To quote Lord Acton once again: “Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

The Guardian reports: So the five largest tech companies – desperate to avoid the kind of antitrust regulation that disrupted IBM and Microsoft’s dominance – are flooding Washington with lobbyists, to the point where they now outspend Wall Street two to one.

“Regulation is coming,” said Malik. “We have got to prepare for that. Everybody has figured out that we are the enemy number one now because we are rich and all the politicians smell blood.”

Nikitas3.com comment: Yes, and it cannot come too fast. These companies are totally out of control. We have never seen anything like this before. And for almost the first time ever liberals oppose regulation since they are the ones who may end up being regulated.

But the campaign contributions of these companies go 98% to Democrats. So guess who won’t be asking any hard questions or seeking new regulation.

By the way, the sudden resignation of Google’s parent company CEO Eric Schmidt is very suspicious. What is going on there? Nikitas3.com theorizes that it involves some type of sexual abuse charges, or other types of corruption, maybe including the Clintons whom Schmidt is very close to.

Schmidt’s resignation came just one day after president Trump signed an Executive Order that allows the government to seize assets tied to international human rights abuses and corruption. We will see if there is any link between this order and Schmidt and the Clintons. After all, the Clinton Foundation has been under suspicion for years for corruption in its international operations.

The Guardian reports: The vast wealth on display in Silicon Valley – in the private commuter buses, sprawling campuses and luxury condos – does little to endear the companies and their employees to the rest of the world. Like it or not, tech workers have become the shining beacons of prosperity and elitism, shining a bit too brightly at a time of increasing income inequality.

Nikitas3.com comment: Again, they are 98% left wingers. So their spoiled, elite lifestyle is no surprise. These are the same people who complain endlessly about “income inequality” while they themselves live like kings. They are typical left-wing hypocrites.

Meanwhile Engagdet.com reports:

The tech industry has a clear history of sexism and misogyny but a recent Newsweek report highlights another problem. The publication got its hands on a slew of emails sent to brothels and pimps between 2014 and 2016 that document the industry’s patronage of brothels and purchasing of services from trafficked sex workers. Among the emails, which were obtained through a public records request to the King County Prosecutor’s Office, were 67 sent from Microsoft employee email accounts, 63 from Amazon accounts and dozens more from companies like Boeing, T-Mobile, Oracle and local Seattle tech firms.
Some of the emails were collected during a 2015 sting operation that targeted sex worker review boards and resulted in the arrest of 18 individuals, including high-level Amazon and Microsoft directors. Two opted for a trial, which is currently set to begin in March.

Now here are some thoughts about Amtrak:

Amtrak Derailments are Frequent Occurrence

On December 18, 2017 an Amtrak train derailed on a freeway overpass near Tacoma, Washington. Here is an excerpt from USA Today about another Amtrak crash just a few miles away in the same area just five months earlier:

A train derailed July 2 (2017) southwest of Tacoma near Steilacoom, Wash., threatening to send several rail cars plunging into Puget Sound. Passengers were evacuated by police and patrol boats from nearby Gig Harbor. There were only minor injuries.

An engineer on Train 506 with 267 passengers onboard had been driving too fast, Amtrak said. The train failed to slow down to the 40-mph speed limit when approaching the Chambers Bay drawbridge, and the excessive speed activated a special “derail switch” designed to avert a disaster if the bridge is open as a train nears, Amtrak said. The engineer was suspended.

After every crash we are told that we need an expensive government-mandated computer system called Positive Train Control to prevent accidents.

No, friends, Amtrak needs to hire competent people to run its trains. But as a government outfit, that ain’t gonna happen. Amtrak attracts and cultivates mediocrity. That is why its service stinks in every way.

The May 2015 Amtrak derailment that killed 8 people outside of Philadelphia also was attributed to an incompetent engineer going too fast, as was the December 18 Tacoma crash that killed three on its maiden run. These are just a few of the annual abundance of crashes on Amtrak.

Here is another way in which sheer worker incompetence cost 47 lives on Amtrak, but in a different way:

One of the most famous train wrecks in US history was the destruction of Amtrak’s Sunset Limited at Alabama’s Bayou Canot near Mobile in 1993. It was caused by an incompetent river barge pilot, a black named Willie Odom, who got lost in the fog at night and whose barge rammed a railroad bridge, knocking it out of line. 47 Amtrak passengers died when the train slammed into the swamp at 80 miles per hour. Was Odom an affirmative action pilot? Well, look at this New York Times report from 1994:

Investigators said the pilot, Willie Odom, could not read his radar, had left his chart of the river at home and did not have a compass. … They said he had received his piloting license only months before, after failing the exam seven times.

Seven times! Don’t you think that they would give him three attempts and then tell him to find another line of work? That he would be endangering others as a barely marginal if not outright unqualified barge pilot? Odom “could not read his radar, had left his chart of the river at home and did not have a compass…” Isn’t this a sign of something terribly wrong?

Nikitas3.com conjectures that they finally give Odom his license under pressure from affirmative action forces in the Alabama state government. And we can be sure that Amtrak supports affirmative action in every way, shape and form and certainly uses it to hire incompetent people who crash their trains.

Actually, taxpayer-subsidized Amtrak ($1.5 billion per year in federal money) should be sold off or shut down entirely. It is an extremely wasteful and inefficient system with a horrible service record even beyond the crashes (late trains, old equipment, frequent breakdowns, rude staff, overpaid workers, etc.).

Amtrak spent a whopping $200 million federal dollars to build a new 14-mile track to save ten minutes on the Seattle-Portland trip that those derailed Washington state trains were making. This is all a colossal waste of money.

Nikitas3.com estimates that 8 million Amtrak tickets are sold ever year to train enthusiasts who could easily find other ways to travel. These people are no reason to keep this spectacularly inefficient system on the rails.

Now finally here is a word about another lunatic Democrat, former New York governor Eliot Spitzer who resigned in 2008 in a sex scandal. As New York attorney general Spitzer waged a legal war against legitimate businesspeople. Fox News wrote recently:

Former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer allegedly threatened to stab a restaurant’s patron’s crotch for admiring his longtime archenemy– Home Depot founder Kenneth Langone, The New York Post reported.

Jamie Antolini, who was dining with potential business partners, told the paper he was verbally ambushed by Spitzer at Avra Madison Estiatorio restaurant last week.

“I’ll get a f–king knife and stab you right in your f—–g c–k!” Antolini told the paper, recalling what he claims Spitzer said.

Spitzer, who resigned in 2008 amid revelations of being a high-priced prostitution patron, reportedly walked by Antolini’s table and heard him calling Langone an “amazing guy” and that “Ken Langone should have been president.”

The comments reportedly enraged Spitzer, prompting him to lean into the man’s face and allegedly yell, “I don’t know who the f–k you think you are! I’ll f—–g have you killed!”

Spitzer then left, but later came back to the table with more expletive threats, including threatening to knife Antolini’s private parts, the report said.
