Trump Gets Tough on Illegal Immigration, Trade

President Trump is making good on his campaign promise to crack down on illegal immigration.

Liberals are saying that he is being too tough but that is false. He simply is starting to make up for the laxness of the last 40 years, particularly under Obama.

In 1986 president Reagan signed the so-called Simpson-Mazzoli immigration bill which granted amnesty to as many as 3 million illegals. The other side of the deal was that the border was supposed to be sealed.

Naturally the border never was sealed and since then the border has been absolutely out of control. Under Obama we saw illegal immigration spike astronomically.

There are now estimated to be 20 million to 30 million illegals in the US. And they come from all over the world, not just over the border from Mexico or Central America or from Asia via Mexico.

Up to half of all illegals are reported to be those who have simply flown in on legal visas from just about everywhere – Africa, Pakistan, Vietnam, Palau, etc. – and never made the return trip home. They have little fear of being caught.

It is time to act. We cannot maintain our national sovereignty with open borders.

There are simply too many people who want to come here and they are causing major problems like crime, suppressing wages and dependency. One report said that the Buffalo, New York school system has students speaking 140 different languages. This is unsustainable.

It is simply not possible to assimilate all of these people. America welcomes immigrants, but in an orderly way. Period. End of sentence.

Here are some of the ways that president Trump is cracking down: The Washington Post reports:

The U.S. government is expanding a program to capture the biometric data of tens of thousands of Central Americans and other migrants arrested in Mexico, gaining unprecedented access to Mexican immigration jails to identify criminals, gang members and potential terrorists long before they reach the U.S. border.

Operating in detention facilities in southern Mexico and here in the capital, Department of Homeland Security officials have installed scores of screening terminals to collect migrants’ fingerprints, ocular scans and other identifying features, including tattoos and scars.

President Trump recently blasted Mexico as doing “very little, if not nothing” to stop the flow of people across Mexican territory en route to the United States. While he later softened his tone, Trump has not acknowledged that Mexican authorities have, over the past several years, allowed the United States a wider view into the identities and backgrounds of those often headed for the border. U.S. authorities see this partnership as a potential model for other countries, and they are in talks with Central American nations to adopt similar measures.

Great. Mexico has encouraged illegal immigration since Mexico wants to send as many of its poor citizens as possible to the US. But then Mexico acts indignant when we seek to stop the flow. This is why Mexico is enraged about the border wall. They do not want anyone or anything disrupting the free flow of poor Mexicans to the US.

Under Operation Wetback in the 1950s president Eisenhower sent back one million Mexicans, to some protest and indignation.

Meanwhile, Trump is acting in other ways. His rhetoric is striking fear into the hearts of illegal immigrants. This is turning the tide against decades of policy under which illegals felt no fear whatsoever. A website called reports:

Federal officials arrested 97 immigrants at a meat-processing plant in rural Tennessee on Thursday in what civil rights organizations said was the largest single workplace raid in a decade and a sign that the Trump administration is carrying out its plan to aggressively ramp up enforcement this year.

Ten people were arrested on federal immigration charges, one person was arrested on state charges and 86 immigrants were detained for being in the country illegally, Tammy Spicer, a spokeswoman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said in a statement Friday. All of those arrested are suspected of being in the country illegally, she said. Immigration advocates said most were from Mexico.

The raid on Southeastern Provision in Bean Station, Tennessee, follows arrests at 7-Eleven stores and other workplaces nationwide. Last year, the nation’s top immigration official said he had ordered agents to increase the number of work-site inspections and operations by “four or five times” this year, to turn off the job “magnets” that attract immigrants who are in the country illegally and punish employers who hire them.

These types of raids make the illegals afraid and is intended to make them feel that immigration is no longer a free ride. This is the only way to curb illegal immigration – to make the illegals fearful rather than making Americans live in fear of illegals.

This also is having a positive effect on wages. When illegals lose their jobs Americans often get the jobs at higher wages since illegals are willing to work for less.

Historically, blacks have been strong opponents of illegal immigration since illegals take low-level jobs away from unskilled blacks. Blacks should be thanking Trump for his policies but they are not.

Now look at this from Reuters:

U.S. President Donald Trump signed a memorandum on Friday ordering the end of a policy, known as “catch and release,” in which illegal immigrants are released from detention while awaiting a court hearing on their status.

As part of the memo, Trump asked Defense Secretary Jim Mattis to produce a list of military facilities that could be used to detain illegal immigrants.

Again, good. ‘Catch and release’ is a typical non-policy that simply encouraged more illegal immigration. The illegals then call or write home and tell their friends and family to come to the US since they will be released if caught. This simply encourages more illegal immigration.

All of this stuff adds up. That is why Trump will be re-elected in 2020 with one single campaign statement… “If you elect my opponent 10 million illegal immigrants will come into the country in the next two years…” And it will be true. There are masses of people waiting to come under open-borders policies. Trump is now discouraging them. And the longer that Trump policies are in effect the more illegal immigration will be curbed.

Because the Democrat plan has been and will continue to be to flood the US with unskilled, uneducated illegals who disrupt our society and become dependent on the taxpayer, giving Democrats more and more power. Now look at this from Reuters:

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions ramped up calls on Friday to criminally prosecute immigrants who cross illegally into the United States, adding to a barrage of statements on immigration by the administration of President Donald Trump this week.

Pointing to an upswing in border crossings to levels seen during former President Barack Obama’s tenure, Sessions said he was ordering U.S. attorneys offices near the Southwest border to prioritize bringing cases against first-time offenders.

Once border crossers are charged with illegal entry and deported, they can be charged with a felony carrying significant jail time if they are caught crossing illegally again.

So there you go. This is the opposite of ‘catch and release’. There’s more, which we all saw recently, from Reuters:

Earlier this week Trump pledged to deploy the National Guard to assist with border operations because he has not been able to secure funding to fulfill a central campaign promise of building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis signed a memo on Friday authorizing the deployment of up to 4,000 National Guard troops. The memo said the troops “will not perform law enforcement activities or interact with migrants.”

Good again. We should and are militarizing the border no matter how much the liberals squawk. Then we should build the wall and withdraw the National Guard. Period.

Threat of Trade War with China is Needed

President Trump came under fire for proposing tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. This action was targeted primarily at China which has been “dumping” cheap government-subsidized steel and aluminum onto the US market for decades. China currently produces 65% of the world’s steel.

Now president Trump is proposing tariffs on other Chinese products as well and China is retaliating with proposals for tariffs on a variety of imports from the US. And we are supposed to be frightened that a “trade war” is developing with China.

Baloney. China has been cheating on trade for decades by manipulating their currency, imposing steep tariffs on imports, exploiting cheap labor and subsidizing their industries. President Trump is simply striking back. He has been talking about the need to strike back for years, long before he even ran for president.

We need to have “free trade but fair trade”. Right now we have “free trade and unfair trade”. The whole world is taking advantage of us. And we ignored it since we were so prosperous. But that has ended. Too many Americans are currently suffering in the globalist trading system. Trump is standing up for the ‘forgotten’ American worker whose factories have closed and moved abroad.

China is howling about the new Trump tariff proposals. It says that it will retaliate with tariffs on agricultural products in order to hurt Trump voters in Midwestern farm states.

Ultimately president Trump is setting the tone for a new deal on trade. Good. This is something that has never happened before.

He will use the threats of the tariffs to get us a better deal from China since China does not want a trade war either and hopefully will negotiate by ending some of their unfair practices. If not, then they get a trade war and it is their fault not ours.

Update: The Trump strategy is working. Fox News reports:

China’s President Xi Jinping appeared to strike a conciliatory tone during a speech Tuesday where he promised to cut China’s auto import tariffs and ease restrictions on foreign ownership in its auto industry as tensions play out with Washington over tariffs.

One of the issues Trump is stressing with China concerns “intellectual property”. In short China is a weak and backward communist nation that has been stealing Western technology for 50 years. That is the only way that they have been able to advance in the global economy.

China today has the second-biggest economy in the world at around $12 trillion annual GDP although that number is not verified. The US is $20 trillion, Japan is $5 trillion and Germany is $3.5 trillion. The state of California alone is close to $2.5 trillion. Russia is around just $1.4 trillion as is Mexico. The state of Florida alone is $900 billion. has a personal story about “intellectual property”: Back in the 1990s an acquaintance of mine owned a machine-tool company that used the latest computerized CNC milling machines.

My acquaintance met a Chinese “waiter” working in a local restaurant. He befriended the “waiter” and soon the “waiter” was asking my friend to consider moving his company to China.

As it turns out this “waiter” was really the son of a communist party official sent abroad to entice companies to move to China where their technology is then stolen.

My acquaintance ultimately stayed put, but after two trips to China to check it out. This is how communist China works; it cheats and steals in every way possible like sending undercover agents acting like “waiters”. And you can rest assured that today there are tens of thousands of Chinese agents in the US acting on a variety of fronts, from spying to sabotage to economic theft.

Meanwhile the non-communist nations in Asia are doing great with pro-American policies and using Western technology. The big difference is that they are free nations with free elections and so we are happy to share US technology with them, including advanced military technology.
