Trump Stands Strong on Border Wall, Wins on China Trade

President Trump used the media to ambush Democrat leaders at the White House over funding for The Wall on the Mexican border.

With press cameras rolling the president confronted Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer. Trump was supremely confident as he talked about proudly shutting down the government if necessary to get funding for The Wall. Read this summary of the meeting from Breitbart News. It is fascinating:

President Donald Trump, future House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer erupted in an on-camera fight in the Oval Office over border wall funding on Tuesday.

The president argued that funding the wall was a “national emergency” and proposed $5 billion in funding. Schumer refused, insisting that he would only provide just $1.6 billion in border security funds.

In response, Trump said he would shut down the government and take responsibility for it if they failed to include additional wall funding.

“I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck, because the people of this country don’t want criminals and people that have lots of problems, and drugs pouring into our country,” he said in response to Schumer. “So I will take the mantle, I will be the one to shut it down, I’m not going to blame you for it.”

Republicans already passed spending measures for most of the Federal government but postponed a fight over funding for the Department of Homeland Security and other cabinet-level agencies. The funding deadline is December 21.

Trump surprised White House reporters by calling them into the Oval Office conversation with Democrats that was originally designated as closed to the press. During the debate, both Pelosi and Schumer protested that it was taking place on camera.

Trump admitted that border security was a “tough issue” noting that Pelosi and Schumer opposed the idea of a wall. He cited border statistics showing that illegal traffic dropped substantially after they finished portions of the wall barriers.

Pelosi was frustrated at the tone of the debate in front of the media.

“I don’t think you should have a debate in front of the press,” she said.

She also defied the idea that Trump had the votes to get the wall funded, daring him to pass a wall funding bill in the House of Representatives.

“You will not win,” Pelosi said. “You do not have the votes in the House.”

Pelosi said that a shutdown was “not worth anything” especially his promised wall.
Trump expressed frustration that he needed ten votes in the Senate to get wall funding passed and insisted that he would not keep the government fully funded unless it had more money for border security.

“Let’s call a halt to this,” Pelosi said, pleading off an ongoing discussion.

Schumer also protested that the discussion was taking place in front of the press.

“Let’s debate in private,” he pleaded.

Schumer told Trump that he did not need a wall to provide border security, citing “experts.” He also taunted Trump for Republicans losing the House of Representatives, reminding him that “elections have consequences.” When Trump reminded Schumer that Republicans added to their majority in the Senate, Schumer sneered, “When the president brags that he won North Dakota and Indiana, we’re in real trouble.”

“This has spiraled downward,” Pelosi concluded, calling the debate “unfortunate.”

“It’s not bad Nancy, it’s called transparency,” Trump replied.

He again vowed that he would not sign any funding bill without substantial border security funding.

“If we don’t have border security, we’ll shut down the government,” Trump said, adding, “We have to have the wall.”

Trump also reserved the right to have the military build the wall if Congress refused to fund it, possibly avoiding a partial government shutdown.

After the meeting, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders described the dialogue with Schumer and Pelosi as “constructive” despite acknowledging “major disagreement” on border security and transparency.

“Walls work – where walls have been built, illegal crossings have dropped substantially,” she said, and added, “We will continue to pursue real solutions to defend our nation and uphold our laws – and hope Democrats will work with us in a bipartisan fashion to do so. A nation without borders is no nation at all.”

Wow. This was a huge victory for the president. Once again Trump is showing that he knows more about getting things done than all of these so-called experts who have been around Washington for decades.

Notice how both Pelosi and Schumer did not want to have the debate in public. There is a reason for this:

President Trump is going to exploit meetings like this, and the Democrats refusal to build The Wall, to get re-elected in 2020. He may even run a clip of this very meeting in a campaign ad for 2020. This was predicted by to be part of his strategy if Democrats won the House back in November.

Schumer and Pelosi in no way expected this. They expected Trump to be timid, particularly after Democrats won the House in the mid-term elections.

Good for president Trump. This border situation is out of control and has been for years. The Wall will solve it immediately. Even if the whole wall cannot be built, some of it already is being built in areas of heavy crossing and it will then be built from the heaviest-crossing areas outward to put the squeeze on illegal immigrants and corral them into areas where they can be caught.

President Trump also is threatening to use military funds to build The Wall if he does not get full funding from Congress. Great.

Build The Wall!

This is part of a secure-borders movement that is spreading across the US and Europe where open-borders leaders are falling by the wayside including German chancellor Angela Merkel. She was considered invincible and was called “the most powerful woman in the world”… until she came under withering fire for allowing more than 1 million muslim immigrants into Germany. Her legacy is now deeply tainted.

President Trump won another major victory on international trade. The Wall Street Journal reported on December 11:

China agreed to reduce tariffs on U.S. autos to 15%, down from 40% currently, during a phone call with U.S. officials that opened the latest round of trade talks aimed at settling a trade dispute festering between the world’s two largest economic powers, according to a person familiar with the matter.

This is a huge win for the president. For the last six months the Fake News media and Democrats have been fretting that Trump’s use of tariffs as a trade weapon was going to create a “trade war” that would bring down the whole world economy.

Not so. China is now giving in. Great news. But the trade victory has surprisingly not caused the stock market to rebound. Why not?

Well, this trade deal with China originally was reported as likely during the G20 meeting between Trump and China in Argentina on December 3. This comes after the Fake News media have spent the last month blaming the possibility of a ‘trade war’ with China for the drops in the stock market.

Yet now that Trump just won another battle in the ‘trade war’ with the new announcement of a deal with China, what will the Fake News media say about the stock market? After all, the market is not going through the roof as it should have done if the China situation were really depressing the market.

In fact Democrats and their media cronies are trying to cover up the real cause of the stock market’s plunge – the Democrat takeover of the majority in the US House of Representatives in the November elections.

In short, the economy fears the Democrats. After all the stock market soared when president Trump was elected and it crashed the day after Obama was elected.

The president clearly has chalked up another victory with China. He now has renegotiated major trade concessions with China, Europe, Canada, Mexico and Japan. This is something that no other president, Republican or Democrat, would have been willing to do.

Immigrant From Impoverished India is CEO at Censoring Google

The CEO of Google is an Indian immigrant named Sundar Pinchai. Wikipedia reports:

Pichai was born in Madurai, Tamil, Nadu, India In a Tamil family. His mother Lakshmi was a stenographer and his father, Regunatha Pichai was an electrical engineer at GEC, the British conglomerate. His father also had a manufacturing plant that produced electrical components. Pichai grew up in a two-room apartment in Ashok, Nagar, Chennai.

He earned his degree from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in metallurgical engineering. He is currently a distinguished alumnus. He holds an M.S. from Stanford University in material sciences and engineering, and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania ….

OK, so we have this leftist Google executive who comes here from India and is engaged in censoring conservative Americans. Yet free speech is one of the fundamental principles of our great nation.

So wonders: What is Pichai doing in America? Shouldn’t he be seeking to help his own impoverished country if he is so smart?

You might think so, but no. And to understand India, you have to go back to its colonial rule under Britain (1858-1947).

While Indians claim that Britain held their nation down it was Britain that brought this grossly impoverished nation its university system, its system of laws, its railroads and its Western technology.

In other words, British rule was very good for India, but left-wing anti-colonialists will never admit it.

When India gained independence in 1947, it foolishly followed a Soviet-style socialist/communist style of government. This resulted in decades of stagnation and poverty. India’s government bureaucracy was world-class in its lethargy.

In 1991 an avowed capitalist named Manmohan Singh became finance minister. He eventually became prime minister and ushered in a new and energized economic platform. It is said that 300 million Indians entered the middle class under Singh… using American technology, by the way.

But this is hardly enough. India still has almost 1 billion people living in poverty, many of them in extreme poverty.

So it is only British colonial rule, American technology and Western free-market capitalism that have started to bring India out of its miserable third-world state.

Yet today most Indian immigrants to the US are strongly socialistic, as Google’s Pichai obviously is. He is not at all interested in the ideals that made America a great nation. He is helping Google to censor conservative speech.

So has this suggestion for Pichai: Go back to India and try to fix it instead of working with Google to censor our speech. And take your $1.3 billion American-made fortune with you. We will be glad to see you go.
