Trump Repeals Dangerous Obama School Crime Rule

Dr. Susan Berry at Breitbart News reports:

The Trump administration has revoked an Obama-era policy that urged public schools to employ more lenient forms of discipline for students of color and of other minority groups.

On Friday, the U.S. Departments of Education and Justice rescinded the Obama administration’s 2014 “Dear Colleague Letter” that a federal school safety commission said “may have paradoxically contributed to making schools less safe.”

The Obama-era Departments of Education and Justice, under Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Attorney General Eric Holder, issued school guidelines that claimed students of color are “disproportionately impacted” by suspensions and expulsions, a situation they said led to a “school-to-prison pipeline” that discriminates against minority and low-income students.

In school districts that adopted the policy, minority students whose behavior would have previously drawn an arrest or a suspension were, instead, referred to “teen courts” or “restorative talking circles.”

OK, let’s look at this story because this is much bigger than you might think. This Obama letter was simply another part of the Democrats’ destructive soft-on-crime agenda. It was called the Promise Program and it started in Chicago and was taken from Chicago to Broward County, Florida by a left-wing school superintendent who took a new job in Florida.

On February 14, 2018 there was a mass high-school shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school in Parkland, Florida, in Broward County, that can be directly linked to the Promise Program. Seventeen died. Breitbart News reports:

Some education policy experts have observed the Broward County school district’s policy, which includes consideration of race and minority status where discipline is concerned… may have played a role in the fact that (school killer) Nikolas Cruz remained under the radar until his shooting rampage in Parkland, Florida, on February 14.

In March, Peter Kirsanow, a member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, told Breitbart News many schools that adopted the leniency policy “have seen marked increases in the number and severity of offenses.”

Yes, because if you treat bad people leniently, as Democrats usually do, then there is going to be more bad behavior. Yet liberals somehow claim that it is the other way around.

In fact Cruz was not “under the radar”; he was well known as a potential killer by school administrators, fellow students, the local police and even FBI. But nobody acted.

In “the good old days” before we had these mass school killings lunatics like Cruz were usually identified, singled out and dealt with. But that no longer happens since political correctness has told us that we must not be ‘judgmental’ about people even if their behavior is suspicious, troubling or even crazy.

Even as far back as 1999 local police were warned ahead of time about one of the Columbine high school killers in Colorado but did nothing about him. The Virginia Tech killer of 2007 was well-known as a madman on his campus but nobody acted, and for good reason – half of the students and most of the faculty on an average left-wing college campus today could be considered deranged. So they protect each other and act like they are all normal and should be free from scrutiny.

Even a psychologist who interviewed the Virginia Tech killer before the murders decided that he was not crazy enough to be on a ‘no buy’ list for gun purchases. So he bought a gun and killed 32 fellow students.

At the same time the same liberals say that we need to have more gun control, which is false. This is a classic Democrat tactic to distract us from the real problem. Virginia Tech is even a “gun free” zone, which was another distraction that gave students and faculty a false sense of security.

We already have 20,000 gun control laws and thousands of gun-free zones across America. We really need to “control” bad people. It works every time.

Breitbart News continued:

Jonathan Butcher, a senior policy analyst at the Heritage Foundation, said in a statement about the policy’s rescission that teachers and school administrators “should be free to create fair and consistent discipline policies that fit the needs of their local schools and protect their students.”

“Students should not be disciplined simply for the color of their skin,” Butcher continued. “At the same time, students shouldn’t be threatened or live in fear because a school adjusts its discipline rules to comply with a federal quota.”

Researchers, Butcher said, have found the Obama-era policy often delivered negative outcomes for students in districts that implemented it.

“As a result, dangerous students could remain in the classroom,” he observed, adding that the policy ignored the importance of “the impacts of a student’s neighborhood and family support on school behavior.”

This is all true from school murders up to international terrorism. Virtually all modern-day terror attacks in Europe and in the US, including 9/11, have been committed by extremist muslims who were known in one way or another to law-enforcement officials or should have been known or better known.

Suspicions about the 9/11 terrorists, for example, were reported repeatedly to FBI but were ignored. These terrorists also engaged in other behaviors that should have set off alarms and been investigated but never were, like getting big wire transfers of money from the Middle East. Most of this happened during the Clinton administration under which the first attack on the World Trade Center in 1993 was not even treated as terrorism but was prosecuted as a criminal act instead.

Even immigration violations were ignored. CNN reported about the 9/11 terrorists’ violations (notice the first one):

• At the time they presented themselves to U.S. ports of entry, all 19 had been trained in Afghan camps and had prepared for and planned terrorist activity.
• Jarrah attended flight school in June 2000 without properly adjusting his immigration status, rendering him inadmissible each of the subsequent six times he reentered the United States between June 2000 and August 5, 2001.
• Hani Hanjour did not attend school after entering on a student visa in December 2000.
• Mohamed Atta failed to present a proper M-1 (vocational school) visa when he entered the United States in January 2001 and had previously overstayed his tourist visa.
• Nawaf al-Hazmi and Satam al-Suqami overstayed the terms of their admission.
• Each of the 19 submitted a visa application stating that he was not seeking to enter the United States to engage in terrorism.
• At least two (al-Suqami and Abdul Aziz al-Omari) and possibly as many as seven of the 19 had false travel stamps — associated with al Qaeda — on their passports when they applied for visas.

In another case an airline ticket agent named Michael Tuohey first encountered 9/11 ringleader Mohammed Atta and his lieutenant al-Omari as they entered the airport security system in Portland, Maine on the morning of September 11, 2001.

Tuohey said in an interview afterward that he believed from Atta’s menacing demeanor that Atta could very well have been a terrorist but that he did not flag Atta for extra scrutiny for fear of “profiling” him.

This is precisely how political correctness undermines us repeatedly.

Here is more about FBI’s terrible record on crime and terrorism since 2009 from The Daily Caller:

Other mass shooters and terrorists were similarly on the FBI’s radar — or should have been — before they carried out their deadly attacks.

Dylann Roof, who in 2015 shot nine people at a black church in Charleston, was allowed to purchase his weapon in part because of errors by FBI agents during the background check process, the agency said.

Pulse (nightclub) shooter Omar Mateen, who pledged allegiance to ISIS before killing 49 people at the Orlando nightclub, similarly seemed to have fallen through the cracks. The FBI investigated Mateen twice before the slaughter but ruled him not a threat both times.

The FBI knew that Fort Hood shooter Army Maj. Nidal Hasan had been in contact with al Qaeda terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki, but declined to investigate him. A congressional probe found that the FBI had failed to alert the Army about Hasan, and that the shooting could and should have been prevented. Hasan killed 13 people and wounded dozens of others in the 2009 shooting.

The FBI similarly missed opportunities to stop Tamerlan Tsarnaev, one of the brothers behind the 2013 Boston Bombing, a government review found. Russia warned the United States that Tsarnaev had associations with Islamic terrorists, leading an FBI-led task force to question the future terrorist. The agent who interviewed Tsarnaev closed the probe “having found no link or ‘nexus’ to terrorism.”

Here is another from CBS News:

The FBI agent who arrested Zacarias Moussaoui in August 2001 accused headquarters of criminal negligence for its refusal to investigate Moussaoui aggressively after his arrest, according to court testimony Monday.

Agent Harry Samit testified under cross-examination at Moussaoui’s trial that FBI headquarters’ refusal to follow up “prevented a serious opportunity to stop the 9/11 attacks” that killed nearly 3,000 people.

Moussaoui is the only person charged in this country in the attacks.

The FBI’s actions between Moussaoui’s arrest on immigration violations on Aug. 16, 2001, and Sept. 11, 2001, are crucial to his trial because prosecutors allege that Moussaoui’s lies prevented the FBI from thwarting or at least minimizing the Sept. 11 attacks.

The upshot is that we can reduce or stop terror attacks and serious crimes like mass shootings by being vigilant. But Democrats do not want us to be vigilant from school killings up to terrorism. They want the violence and terror to flourish in order to create the chaos that leftists thrive on.

Leftist Media Skunks Continue to be Exposed

CNN can never get anything right anymore. Once the gold standard of cable news it now is a joke with plummeting viewership. Fox News reports:

The German magazine Der Spiegel revealed Wednesday that one of its top award-winning journalists fabricated many of his articles, inventing characters, sources, and their quotes “on a grand scale” for many years.

Claas Relotius, a reporter and editor, admitted to fabricating parts of at least 14 stories following the magazine’s internal investigation. The publication said the issue “marks a low point in the 70-year history of Der Spiegel.”

… The reporter contributed around 60 articles to Der Spiegel, one of the leading German magazines for investigative reporting. He previously worked for other publications in Europe and won awards such as CNN Journalist of the Year in 2014.

Amazing. No wonder the Fake News media have lost so much credibility. France 24 then reported:

Influential German news weekly Der Spiegel said Sunday it would file a criminal complaint against a disgraced reporter after it emerged he may have embezzled donations intended for Syrian street children.

Claas Relotius, 33, resigned this month after admitting to making up stories and inventing protagonists in more than a dozen articles in the magazine’s print and online editions.

Spiegel said it now had information that Relotius allegedly launched a campaign for readers to give money to help subjects of an article he wrote but that the bank details he gave directed the funds to his own account.

“Der Spiegel will give all the information it collects to public prosecutors as part of a criminal complaint,” it said on its website.

Spiegel said concerned readers had in recent days reported Relotius’s call for donations purportedly for orphaned Syrian children living on the streets of Turkey.

It said it had been unaware of the campaign and that it was not immediately clear how much money was raised from the appeal, apparently made by email to readers who contacted him about the story.

Spiegel published the article by Relotius in July 2016 but a Turkish photographer who worked with him on the piece has since noted significant inaccuracies.

This is typical. Many people on the socialistic left are highly dishonest. It is part of their character. knows about this from many personal experiences.
