Hillary Clinton said in an interview that she will not run for president in 2020. This is good news. It would be nice to finally get these Clintons out of the news every damned day… although that will never happen until they die. Fox News reported:
Hillary Clinton, the 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, said in an interview Monday that she has ruled out a bid for the 2020 presidential election.
The former first lady and secretary of state told News 12 Westchester that she will not be running for president next year.
“I’m not running, but I’m going to keep on working and speaking and standing up for what I believe,” Clinton told the station, in the first local television interview since the midterm elections. Clinton also said she is “not going anywhere.”
She added: “What’s at stake in our country, the kind of things that are happening right now are deeply troubling to me. And I’m also thinking hard about how do we start talking and listening to each other again? We’ve just gotten so polarized. We’ve gotten into really opposing camps unlike anything I’ve ever seen in my adult life.”
Yes, ma’am, polarized is what you get with a corrupt, left-wing Democrat party and a radical president like Obama. And people like the Clintons who have used “the politics of personal destruction” like no one has before them. These two are totally out for themselves, and for more than 20 years they had a crooked FBI and Justice Department to protect them at every turn.
So let us say that Hillary really is out for 2020. It is interesting to note that she used a local TV interview to announce it. That seemed odd. After all the Clintons’ specialty is to attract as much attention to themselves as they can.
But we might have seen this coming. After all things have changed dramatically in the Age of Trump.
For instance, what ever happened to the famous Clinton book/speaking tour? Remember that one, that was supposed to last until May 2019 and that was allegedly going to culminate in Hillary announcing that she was running for president in 2020? It had its first stop in …. Canada(?!)… but then seems to have fizzled out when the Bush funeral hit. Nikitas3.com cannot find any mention of it online.
But it fizzled out not because of the Bush funeral, but because nobody was paying to hear the Clintons tell their same old story. The first Canadian appearance produced an embarrassingly small audience.
In short, the Clintons may finally have seen the light and decided that they have had enough of presidential politics because, frankly, the country has had enough of them. Canada too.
They know that the political landscape has changed significantly with Trump and that Hillary’s horrible 2016 campaign and her never-ending psychosis over her loss injured her beyond repair.
After all, the Clintons know how to do one thing, and that is count votes. They must finally be seeing themselves out of touch with today’s even more radical Democrat party. If she ran, she would face relentless primary attacks from within her own party. That is a daunting prospect.
We also have seen Bill Clinton embarrassing himself repeatedly over the years, starting with the Lewinsky scandal toward the end of his own presidency, and repeatedly thereafter. In 2008, he got into a personally ugly confrontation with Obama.
We do not know what is really going on behind the scenes but we know that the Clintons’ public persona is one big stage show where nothing happens without being scripted ahead of time.
There is an old rule that American presidents are supposed to fade from view after they leave the White House and let history judge them.
Republicans have adhered to the rule, but the Clintons and Obamas and Al Gore have not. Oh, certainly Bill Clinton disappeared for a few years after he left office in 2001. Meanwhile Hillary went to the US Senate from 2001 to 2009, where she got plenty of publicity, but Bill did not re-emerge until around 2005.
In the interim he was setting up the Clinton Foundation and the Clinton Global Initiative which turned out to be shell organizations for the aggrandizement of the Clintons and money-laundering operations too. Both have been under significant scrutiny for their many suspicious dealings including influence peddling and the Uranium One scandal.
In other words the Clintons don’t have to be in the White House to be sucking up all of the oxygen in the room. They are never far from the TV cameras and from the back room deal-making of national and global politics. And they certainly expected to be back in the Oval Office in January 2017. But along came Trump.
Bill Clinton is said to have amassed a $150 million fortune just from giving speeches since he left the presidency. And that is just the start. The Clintons certainly have many sources of wealth that pass under the radar, like using Clinton Foundation money to fund their lifestyle under the banner of “expenses”. And wealthy friends subsidizing them in various ways (free airplane trips, visits to their mansions, ‘consulting’, etc.).
Hillary lost in 2016 after running a bumbling campaign where only a few hundred people would show up to see her speak. She re-appeared briefly after election day only to give a concession speech (dressed in purple, if you remember) and then disappeared again.
In her first public appearance after that, she had huge bags under her eyes as if she had been severely traumatized by her loss. Which she certainly was and continues to be up to today.
These Clintons are two of the sleaziest and most self-centered people ever in American politics. Everything is about “me, me, me…”. But if Hillary indeed is serious that she won’t run in 2020, they may have finally adjusted themselves to reality – that they are just not as popular and beloved as they thought and that there is a new era upon us.
Their demise has certainly been made even more difficult by the fact that they were thumped by Donald Trump who had never run for office before or even held office.
On the other hand Hillary and Bill Clinton had devoted their lives to feeding a political animal that finally came back to bite them. They crossed a lot of people, including the Obamas. That is not a good thing to do.
The Clintons never knew any other life except to get and hold political power. And now they are seeing their lifetime of work slipping away. It must be brutal for them but a joy for the rest of us.
It should be interesting to see how Hillary proceeds from here and how she will become involved in the 2020 presidential race.
And she will. Hillary and Bill are certainly still seething with rage over president Trump upending their plans and so they will do everything that they can to defeat him. But on the other hand they are also enraged about a new generation of Democrats that does not want them around. So they may not even be asked to get involved and that must be stinging them too.
Let’s face it – the Clintons are so ‘yesterday’. They are from the 1990s. Today’s Democrat party has lurched even further to the left with clowns like Cortez, Cory Booker, Pocahontas and Kamala Harris who think of the Clintons as all washed up.
This is all a huge blow to the Clinton legacy. It was not supposed to be this way. But it started to fall apart back in 1998 when Bill Clinton became only the second president in US history to be impeached, and he has struggled with that legacy since then.
Hillary was supposed to provide him redemption, but she failed twice, losing to Obama in the primaries in 2008 and by being an awful candidate in 2016. But that is no surprise. Nikitas3.com said repeatedly from 2012 up to election day 2016 that Hillary was a weak candidate who could be beaten.
It is hard to imagine what is going on behind closed doors at the Clinton estate near New York City. There is probably a lot of yelling and screaming… and drinking of wine and spirits.
We know that Bill and Hillary’s “marriage” is just a sham of political convenience. And so you wonder how that “marriage” will hold up as Hillary fades from the presidential ring. It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall in that place.
