The first ‘earth day’ was April 22, 1970. That date was the 100th anniversary to the day of the birth of genocidal communist dictator Vladimir Lenin who was born on April 22, 1870.
This is not a coincidence. Environmentalism is a radical left-wing movement that is heavily populated by socialists and communists. And this movement is not even about “the environment” or preserving nature. It is a precisely orchestrated movement targeted at undermining America with endless restrictions on economic production and with inefficient ‘green’ energy for its power source.
This movement also is carefully controlled to say nothing negative about the biggest polluter by far which is communist China, i.e., it is a communist movement.
Since 1970 the ‘greenies’ have been using fear as a tactic. Nikitas3.com remembers well the dire predictions from back then, that the world was running out of oil; that air pollution was bouncing sunlight back into outer space and freezing the earth; that we were all going to starve; that “acid rain” was killing Northeastern lakes, etc. There even was a story that linoleum floors, which were everywhere, were made up of microscopic particles that got kicked up into the air every time we stepped on them. And that these particles were getting into out lungs and were going to kill us. I recall being frightened about all of it.
These scare tactics continue to this day. The September 20 children’s ‘climate strike’ was rife with end-of-the-world rhetoric. Recently a teenage ‘climate’ activist named Jamie Margolin testified before Congress saying that many of her peers are wondering why they should bother studying and working toward the future when the ‘climate’ alarmists are saying that world is going to end in 10 years. Margolin said:
I already have underlying issues of anxiety. And it’s really hard to grow up in a world full of “ifs.” You know, I don’t think a lot of people in Congress understand the conversations that are happening in everyday American high schools, but we’re constantly asked, prepare for your future, study for your future, do this for your future, but our world is full of ifs.
I’ll be talking to my best friend and she says, “I want to see this natural place sometime — if it’s going to be around.” “I want to study to be this, if that’s still going to be a possibility.”
It’s just like this constant looming uncertainty and it’s this weird form of nihilism and weird just fear that’s been existing in my generation where kids are joking, “Like, what is even like the point? The world is ending? What are we studying for? What are we doing?”…
Right now it’s like some members of government and some corporations are actively pointing a gun to children’s futures. And actively making it worse, actively going out of their way to support corporations and poison us and destroy our future and that is horrifying and it feels like a betrayal.
Nikitas3.com remembers feeling the same way back in 1970. I felt that I was only going to live at most until the year 2000 when I was expecting that the world would end.
Well, it hasn’t ended, and that is why Nikitas3.com is a committed ‘climate’ truth-teller; I have seen all of these tactics before. But the fearmongering continues at the highest level ever among a new generation of alarmists.
This is patently abusive. The ‘greenies’ are sowing fear and anxiety among tens of millions of young people and causing many of them to be deeply depressed.
Meanwhile it recently was reported that the internet retailer Amazon wants to transition to so-called ‘zero emissions’ by 2030. Yet Amazon is going to take massive taxpayer subsidies to do so since all ‘green’ ideas are subsidized. Because ‘green’ energy is extremely inefficient and so it needs heavy subsidies.
Amazon says that it is going to buy 100,000 electric delivery vehicles by 2024. And naturally Amazon will take huge tax credits to do so. Yet if ‘green’ energy is so great then why does it need subsidies?
Good question. But even worse, Nikita3.com calculates that electric vehicles use 2 to 10 times as much energy per mile traveled as gasoline-powered cars and trucks do. This obviously is very bad for the environment.
They use all of this extra energy because electricity is the most highly “refined” energy source and it is a law of physics that ‘it consumes energy to refine energy’. Electricity should be conserved for targeted applications like computers, refrigerators, light bulbs, radios, telephones, etc. for which there is no alternative.
At the same time we have an excellent alternative for transportation… gasoline-powered and diesel-powered vehicles that are extremely efficient and clean. We should not be wasting electricity on cars and trucks since they are very heavy and need large amounts of electricity.
Meanwhile the batteries that power electric vehicles can lose half of their charge in frigid weather. This is a catastrophic drawback for places with cold winters like Minnesota and Vermont which would suffer a significant economic disadvantage over warmer states if we switched to electric cars.
But wait! It gets worse! Plugincars.com reports the other side of the story:
… batteries exposed to hotter average temperatures lose their ability to store energy; the hotter the temperature the faster they lose their storing ability. So (electric vehicle) owners in Phoenix will likely be looking to replace their batteries faster than owners living where the thermometer doesn’t often reach 110°F.
So electric cars are bad in both hot weather AND cold weather. Amazing.
It gets worse: The Tesla electric car company still hasn’t turned a profit after 16 years in business and more than $5 billion in federal taxpayer subsidies. The reason: Electric cars are an inefficient ‘green’ fraud.
General Motors squandered billions on its Volt electric car and then abandoned production since they were losing boatloads of money on each car. This is one of the factors that led GM to lay off 15,000 workers, probably permanently. This was another destructive outcome of ‘green’ policy that the media will never discuss.
Meanwhile Bloomberg.com reports about solar panels installed by a subsidiary of Tesla called SolarCity:
One evening last year, David Burek noticed charred wood and a burning smell in his attic, near his young sons’ bedroom. He climbed a ladder and saw a melted connector wire from the solar panels installed on the roof of his North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, home. Firefighters rushed over and discovered that flames had burned through the shingles, the roof and a support beam. Luckily, a recent rain had doused it.
A month later, a fire broke out on the roof of Ken Tomasello’s home in Waldorf, Maryland, sending a section of the ceiling crashing onto a bed. It ultimately caused so much fire, smoke and water damage that Tomasello and his wife lived in a hotel for more than a year.
The two homes had something in common: SolarCity, now a unit of Elon Musk’s Tesla Inc., had installed their rooftop panels. While these are just a pair of relatively small incidents at a company with some 400,000 solar customers—one of the biggest such portfolios in the U.S.—they add to the growing concern about the safety of Tesla’s solar systems.
These are just two homes out of millions with solar panels. And every single panel is subsidized by taxpayers, i.e., if you don’t have solar panels then you are subsidizing your neighbor who has them.
Meanwhile we don’t know how bad solar panels really are since the Fake News media will never report on their dangers and shortcomings.
Nikitas3.com would bet that hundreds of thousands of homes have been damaged in one way or another by solar panels through fires, roof leaks, panel failure, electrical failure in the conversion systems, roof rot caused by moisture trapped under the panels, excessive heating of the roof by the panels, excess weight on the roof, etc.
It gets worse. Solar panels perform poorly in very hot and sunny climates like Arizona where we assumed that solar output would be maximized. But it is not; quite the opposite. Civicsolar.com reports:
It may seem counter-intuitive, but solar panel efficiency is affected negatively by temperature increases. Photovoltaic modules are tested at a temperature of 25 degrees C (STC) – about 77 degrees F., and depending on their installed location, heat can reduce output efficiency by 10-25%. As the temperature of the solar panel increases, its output current increases exponentially, while the voltage output is reduced linearly. In fact, the voltage reduction is so predictable, that it can be used to accurately measure temperature.
A 10% to 25% reduction in efficiency is a shocking loss. But you will never read about it in the Fake News media which are covering up everything negative about solar panels.
Meanwhile solar panels only produce power for 1,000 hours per year in the Northeastern US. There are 8,760 hours in a year. So what are we supposed to do for the rest of the time?
Fortunately we have nuclear, natural gas and coal-fired plants. Yet ‘greenies’ want to eliminate these three crucial energy sources.
Meanwhile CNBC.com reports:
Walmart is suing Elon Musk’s electric vehicle and clean energy company after Tesla solar panels atop seven of the retailer’s stores allegedly caught fire, according a court filing.
The Walmart suit alleges breach of contract, gross negligence and failure to live up to industry standards. Walmart is asking Tesla to remove solar panels from more than 240 Walmart locations where they have been installed, and to pay damages related to all the fires Walmart says that Tesla caused.
The Walmart suit, filed in the state of New York, alleges that: “As of November 2018, no fewer than seven Walmart stores had experienced fires due to Tesla’s solar systems – including the four fires described above and three others that had occurred earlier.” The filing details evacuations, damaged property and inventory.
So these solar panels are obviously a hazard to add to the fact that they are extremely inefficient.
Amazon also plans to get 80% of its energy from renewable sources by 2024. This is another fraud. ‘Green’ energy is a hoax. For instance windmills only make power when the wind is blowing. Will Amazon’s electric delivery trucks stop running when the wind stops blowing? No.
Windmills have a high failure rate since they are subjected to brutal weather conditions. Will Amazon stop delivering when a windmill fails? No.
Windmills produce much of their power at night when power is not needed. This is a major drawback of windmills.
Solar panels produce no power on cloudy days or during rainstorms or snowstorms. Will Amazon stop delivering on cloudy, rainy and snowy days? No.
Fortunately for Amazon and for all electric vehicle owners we have nuclear power and natural gas power and coal power for most of our electricity generating plants so that we can have power anytime and don’t have to rely on expensive and intermittent “renewable” energy.
Meanwhile ‘greenies’ are developing their own lifestyle. Phys.org reports:
The last time Californian climate scientist Peter Kalmus was on an airplane was in 2012: He says it made him feel physically sick and like he was “stealing” from his children’s future, and vowed never to fly again.
US President Donald Trump’s administration has made no secret of its disdain for climate science, but that hasn’t stopped some ordinary Americans from finding ways to drastically reduce their own carbon footprints, hoping to persuade others through their examples.
Kalmus was pursuing his post-doctoral studies in 2009 when he became increasingly concerned about the prospect of climate breakdown, tipping points such as the thawing of the Earth’s permafrost triggering runaway global warming that wreaks havoc on weather systems.
“I was shaking people by the lapels, posting screeds on Facebook, not really getting anywhere,” he told AFP in an interview from his home in a Los Angeles suburb.
“Eventually, it dawned on me that I should maybe bring my actions into alignment with my beliefs.”
Gee, no kidding. Nikitas3.com has been saying for many years that these ‘greenies’ should start living the life that they demand for all of us, to lead by example. And while some fringe ‘greenies’ like Kalmus are doing so most environmentalists are not like the Hollywood goons in their private jets or billionaires like Mark Zuckerberg. Phys.org reports:
Drawing upon his expertise as a scientist, he calculated the emissions associated with various aspects of his life and was surprised to learn that electricity consumption made up a tiny portion compared to air travel.
“So I started focusing on flying less. I tried being a vegetarian for a month, and I liked it better,” he said, quickly realizing that, rather than feeling like sacrifices, the changes he made were improving his sense of wellbeing.
This would all be very well and good if we had proof that the use of jet fuel and gasoline were really harming the environment. But this ‘climate’ science has been debunked over and over. There is no man-made ‘climate change’ or ‘global warming’. The climate has been changing naturally for thousands of years and it has been much hotter many times in the past than it is today.
Nikitas3.com will continue to demand, however, that the environmentalists live the life that they want for the rest of us. Phys.org continued:
Some people, like Tarek Maassarani, take their philosophy to what others may see as extremes.
The bespectacled 40-year-old with long blond hair does paid consulting for the United States Institute of Peace and is an adjunct professor at two Washington universities, but performs the bulk of his work in the volunteer sector.
Two years ago, he moved out of a co-housing community in a Washington suburb when his two sons shifted to Utah to live with their mother, and has been living between friends’ houses ever since.
Apart from relying almost exclusively on his bicycle for transport, including deep into winter, Maassarani is focused on avoiding buying new products because of the energy-intensive nature of their production.
He instead depends on hand-me-downs, “and I sort of extend the life of things well past what most people would do,” finding ways to keep tatty decade-old cell phones and laptops going.
He gets much of his food from dumpster diving or from the leftovers at buffets from conferences he attends, describing himself as a “supply-and-demand vegan.”
OK, enough. This is what these environmentalists want for all of us. And we smart people reject it. We are not going to get our food from dumpsters and ride our bicycles to work. But we hope that environmentalists do. It serves them right.
Others, like Elizabeth Hogan, lead more conventional lives but are still re-orienting themselves toward more carbon neutrality.
Hogan, who works as a consultant on mitigating the impact of ocean plastics on marine life, just outfitted solar panels on the roof of her home in Washington.
She and her husband estimate these will account for 80 percent of their energy needs, with the balance coming from wind power bought at a premium from their electric provider.
Yes, and they are taking big taxpayer and ratepayer subsidies for those solar panels. So they should pay full price if they really want to show us how great ‘green’ energy is. But they never will. Because it isn’t.
Meanwhile Breitbart News reported about the September 20 ‘climate strike’:
Activists spanning over 150 countries participated in the global climate strike Friday, but activists in China — the world’s leading greenhouse gas emitter — were noticeably silent as protests were not authorized in the country, according to reports.
Thousands gathered in cities across the globe — including London, Berlin, Tokyo, and Washington, DC — to protest anthropogenic climate change and the purported lack of urgency to address it. However, there was a remarkable lack of participation from individuals in China — the planet’s worst greenhouse gas emitter — minus a protest in Hong Kong.
According to the Guardian, “No protests were authorized in China.” However, the China Youth Climate Action Network’s Zheng Xiaowen said that Chinese youth “have their own methods.”
… Several climate change activists in D.C. decried the U.S. for its role in contributing to climate change despite the fact that the U.S. has made great strides in reducing its carbon output, seeing the “largest decline in CO2 emissions in the world for 9th time this century” in 2017. The largest increase that year came from China.
According to a report released by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) last year, the U.S. reduced its greenhouse gas output by 2.7 percent during President Trump’s first year in office.
… Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) reiterated that point to Greta Thunberg and the other climate kids who testified before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and Select Committee on the Climate Crisis on Wednesday.
“Meanwhile, as the West looks at options to combat climate change, we all know that China’s global emissions continue to rise. For every ton of carbon dioxide reduced by the United States, China adds nearly four times as much,” Kinzinger said.
“Today the Chinese account for 30 percent of global emissions. While some may say that the United States needs to be the leader of combating climate change, I would say that we already are,” he continued.
“Since 2005 global emissions have increased by 20 percent, but the United States emissions have decreased by more than the next 12 emission-reducing countries combined,” he added.
As Breitbart News reported, China is ramping up its coal-powered energy supply “with the total of future projects now standing at 226.2 gigawatts (GW)”:
That is more than twice the amount of fresh capacity planned for India, according to data published Thursday by environmental groups.
…With nearly 1,000 GW in operation, China accounts for about half the word’s coal-fired power, with the United States (259 GW) and India (221 GW) a distant second and third, according to the Global Coal Plant Tracker.
Meanwhile here is one more wacko story from PJ Media:
On Tuesday, Union Theological Seminary hosted a chapel service in which self-identified Christians confessed their climate sins to plants. No, this is not satire from The Babylon Bee — this really happened, and the seminary is defending it without shame. The incident illustrates how dangerous climate change hysteria can become, and how important it is for Christians to actually read their Bibles and reject the syncretism of the world.
“In worship, our community confessed the harm we’ve done to plants, speaking directly in repentance. This is a beautiful ritual,” the seminary announced on Twitter. “We are in the throes of a climate emergency, a crisis created by humanity’s arrogance, our disregard for Creation. Far too often, we see the natural world only as resources to be extracted for our use, not divinely created in their own right—worthy of honor, thanks and care.”
Friends, environmentalism always has been a dangerous cult, but it is getting worse and worse. This is leading to a serious loss of credibility for the environmental movement, for instance now that they are demanding an end to oil, coal and natural gas use. And they want us to stop using our cars and airlines.
