Over and over ‘greenies’ tell us how wonderful solar energy is. They say things like, “Every day 100,000 times as much solar energy falls on the earth as we need to power the world.”
That should mean that solar-generated electricity should be infinitely abundant which means that it should be dirt cheap or even free.
But the same environmentalists can never explain why solar power still requires huge taxpayer subsidies to even exist. Nikitas3.com calculates that solar energy is 100% subsidized once you add up all of the subsidies, including all of the hidden ones.
Meanwhile this “free” solar energy actually drives electricity costs UP. Germany has the highest percentage of solar panels in the world and it has electricity costs three times as high as the US.
Solar panels also consume large swaths of land in relationship to the amount of energy that they produce. One estimate says that solar uses 500 times as much land as a nuclear power plant for the same amount of power. Another estimate says that solar uses 1,000 times as much land.
So what is so “green” about that? To destroy the land by covering it with solar panels? If you ever have driven along a beautiful country road and come across a lovely meadow blackened by solar panels you know what it means. It is an affront just like the environmentalists are destroying our mountaintop scenery with 300-foot-tall windmills.
But lo and behold ‘greenies’ are finally admitting that solar energy has another major drawback – it is “intermittent”, i.e., the sun does not shine all the time and, of course, there is no power at night. In the cloudy Northeastern US solar panels only generate significant amounts of electricity for 1,000 hours per year out of 8,760 hours in a year.
So what should we do for the rest of the time? Good question. We conservatives noted this “intermittency” problem decades ago but the ‘greenies’ ignored it. And they are brushing it off today by saying that we are going to store solar energy in batteries when the sun is shining so that we have the energy when the sun is not shining.
But they don’t tell us that batteries are very expensive. That the manufacture of batteries is bad for the environment. That modern batteries require valuable earth elements like lithium, that are rare. That batteries wear out, sometimes in just a few years or even less as we all have experienced many times in our lives.
That batteries can lose half of their power during frigid weather. That batteries perform poorly in very hot weather too. And that batteries are very toxic and must not be thrown into landfills or burned in incinerators once they have worn out but must be treated in very expensive ways as hazardous waste.
Thus environmentalists don’t tell us that the sky-high cost of battery storage is going to cancel out some or all of the alleged cost savings of solar power.
And those cost savings are “alleged” because the ‘green’ media will never tell us how much solar energy really costs.
See the picture? Here is the Nikitas3.com Golden Rule: Never believe anything that these environmentalists or their media friends say about ‘green’ energy. They lie constantly.
For instance a windmill was installed in 2007 on a mountain near where Nikitas3.com lives. The ‘greenies’ told us that the windmill would generate enough electricity for 1,500 homes – a nice number that sounds very appealing.
Well, Nikitas3.com found the actual output numbers for the windmill and calculated that it would power only 400 homes.
Even worse much of the windmill’s electricity is generated at night when power demand is very low. Thus the windmill’s output is much less than 400 homes since much of it is generated when a home does not need it.
Repeat the Golden Rule: Never believe what ‘greenies’ say. They lie constantly.
Final Note: The answer to all of our electricity needs is abundant nuclear power! Period! End of story! Nuclear power is already proven over decades of use.
And while ‘greenies’ say that nuclear radiation is dangerous, we should simply recall the worst nuclear accident in US history at Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania in 1979. It killed zero people. In fact president Jimmy Carter went right inside the plant shortly after the accident and he is still alive today… at age 95!
Another Massive Carbon Energy Bonanza
While ‘greenies’ claim that the world is running out of carbon fuel, Nikitas3.com has said many times that the world has an unlimited supply of oil, coal and natural gas. And here’s further proof of that.
There are chunks of ice all over the deep ocean bottoms with methane gas trapped in them. Methane is a type of carbon fuel that has seeped out from the earth and become trapped in the ice chunks. And all we have to do is pick them up.
The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that global methane hydrates total 700,000 trillion cubic feet of methane gas. And this estimate could be low since most initial estimates of oil and gas reserves are low.
In comparison the massive Marcellus shale natural gas field in the Eastern US under the states of Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia – one of the world’s largest known land deposits of gas – is estimated to hold up to 600 trillion cubic feet of gas.
So obviously methane hydrates would be a huge asset to the global economy. And who opposes the mining of methane hydrates?
Environmentalists do. Why?
Because it further debunks their claim that the world is running out of oil, coal and natural gas.
Mexican Border Wall Update
Matt Margolis at PJ Media reported:
Do border walls work? Based on the evidence at the new border wall in San Diego, they do. A year ago, the U.S.-Mexico border near San Diego was an easy spot for caravans to send migrants into the United States. Not so much anymore, according to a report from Fox News. A 14-mile long border wall in San Diego that replaced an old fence is already working wonders.
… The project to install 14 miles of replacement barriers began in May 2018 and is now complete. The secondary project began in February this year and it includes two miles of wall that did not exist before, officials say.
It’s part of a project that has, across the whole border, seen 71 miles completed, with an additional 162 currently under construction and an additional 276 miles in the “pre-construction” phase. It’s part of an ambitious plan to get somewhere close to 450-500 miles completed by the end of 2020.
This is very encouraging. And it is important to remember that The Wall is being built first in places where crossings are heaviest and thus is having the most significant impact per dollar spent. Construction will then work its way out to more remote areas with few crossings.
We should all thank president Trump for his focus on border security. By the end of his second term in January 2025 we should have most or all of the border walled off and illegal immigration will finally come under control.
Meanwhile Breitbart News reports more good news on immigration:
United States Attorneys’ Offices around the country prosecuted about 110,500 illegal aliens and illegal alien smugglers in Fiscal Year 2019 — the highest annual rate of prosecution for immigration-related crimes ever in American history.
Newly released data by the Justice Department reveals how President Trump’s administration has hugely increased the number of illegal aliens and illegal alien smugglers being prosecuted after years of decline by the Bush and Obama administrations.
The spike represents the highest number of immigration-related prosecutions in a single year since the federal government started tracking the figure more than 25 years ago.
Kellogg’s Sides with Gays
Breitbart News reports:
Breakfast cereal giant Kellogg’s is teaming with the advocacy group Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) for an anti-bullying campaign featuring a new “All Together” cereal bringing many of its most famous cartoon characters onto one box front.
The new cereal brings several of the company’s most popular cereals together. The box includes Raisin Bran, Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies, Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops, and Frosted Mini Wheats.
With the new limited-edition product, Kellogg’s and GLAAD hope to combat the bullying of LGBTQ people.
“We all belong together,” the company said in a press release. “So for the first time in history, our famous mascots and cereals are offered exclusively together in the same box for All Together Cereal. It’s a symbol of acceptance no matter how you look, where you’re from or who you love.”
The different cereals come packaged separately in individual bags inside each box, Kellogg’s said.
The company added that the special cereal is for sale on its website, Kelloggstore.com, for $19.99 a box, and Kellogg’s is donating $50,000 to GLAAD for its anti-bullying campaign.
Question: Why have so many major corporations become so liberal?
Answer: Because today’s corporate CEOs came out of US colleges in the 1960s and 1970s after heavy leftist indoctrination.
Trump Lays it Thick on Democrats
President Trump recently called Democrats his “hateful and enraged adversaries” and added, “I really don’t believe anymore that they love our country. They hate our country.”
Wow. Kaboom. This is brutal. And it is true. Nikitas3.com has said it many times. Democrats constantly malign America. They never seem to say anything nice.
And after decades in which Republicans have been slandered and impugned with no reply, we finally have a president with a spine. Great.
‘Green’ Lunacy about… Urinating
Frode Hult of the Water and Sewer Agency in Oslo appeared on Norwegian State Television to say that Norway uses twice as much as water per person as Denmark.
To lower water use Hult advised: “Do not run the water when you brush your teeth, only wash with filled washing machines, only buy washing machines that don’t use so much water, use a pot when you are watering plants in your garden. And pee in the shower in the morning.”
Pee in the shower in the morning? To save water? These environmentalists are sick.
After mankind has sought for thousands of years to lift us out of the gutter these crazy environmentalists are trying to lower us back down. Everything is a crisis to them, including water use.
In other words, whenever we are healthy and happy leftists want to obliterate it. They did the same with the famous “waterless urinals” where standard flush urinals in men’s rest rooms were replaced with waterless urinals.
Well, the waterless ones stink like hell, as expected. Just like everything that ‘greenies’ tell us to do.
Double Standard on Trump Hatred
Ad Age reported:
Three years into Donald Trump’s presidency, anti-Trump imagery is common. He’s been lampooned on the cover of Time on multiple occasions, and New York magazine just squashed him under a giant peach.
But athletic wear company Dhvani’s new … campaign features a more graphic depiction of the president, with a series of images that depict Trump tied up, on the toilet or shushed by women fed up with the actions and the rhetoric of this White House.
In an image titled “Lady Liberty,” running on a Times Square billboard, middle school teacher and Marine Corps veteran Michal Mesa binds a convincing Trump impersonator, her bare foot planted firmly on his face, in a vignette inspired by the superhero Wonder Woman and her Lasso of Truth.
Naturally the media love this and call it ‘free speech’ and will never protest it. But USNews.com reported in 2013:
OFFICIALS AT THE Missouri State Fair have banned for life a rodeo clown who entertained spectators during a bull riding contest while wearing a Barack Obama mask. “The rodeo clown won’t be allowed to participate or perform at the fair again,” the Associated Press reported Monday. “Fair officials say they’re also reviewing whether to take any action against the Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association, the contractor responsible for Saturday’s event.”
A photo caption explained:
This photo provided by Jameson Hsieh shows a clown wearing a mask intended to look like President Obama at the Missouri State Fair. The announcer asked the crowd if anyone wanted to see “Obama run down by a bull,” according to a spectator. “So then everybody screamed. … They just went wild,” said Perry Beam, who attended the rodeo at the State Fair in Sedalia on Saturday Aug. 10, 2013. State Fair officials apologized calling the display inappropriate and disrespectful.
Imagine that… one incident with a rodeo clown in Missouri seen by a few hundred people leads to the clown being banned for life. Meanwhile a horrible anti-Trump billboard in Times Square will be seen by millions and it is called “free speech”.
Can you say “double standard”?
