Former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg appears to be preparing to join the Democrat primary field to compete for the presidential nomination in 2020. This has created a major media frenzy.
Bloomberg has not completely committed to the race. He is simply filing for the Alabama primary to keep his options open. But he has teased an interest in running for president before and thus many people are not taking him seriously.
Bloomberg, who is 77 years old, has a fortune estimated at $52.4 billion according to Forbes magazine, making him the 9th richest man in the world.
Bloomberg earned his fortune with his Bloomberg News media empire and was mayor of New York City for 12 years from 2002 to 2014.
He is positioning himself as a moderate Democrat but has been a Republican and an Independent. This alone should give voters pause, i.e., he is a political chameleon.
But Bloomberg is not moderate. He is a gun-control militant and a ‘climate’ alarmist. He even said that the president of China is not a dictator! TIME magazine reported about Bloomberg’s Nanny State agenda:
In 2002, Bloomberg banned smoking in New York City’s bars and restaurants. Then in 2011, he banned smoking in most outdoor areas, like parks and beaches. And just this month, New York became the first large city to ban tobacco sales to people under the age of 21, rather than the usual 18.
In 2005, New York became the first city to force restaurants and food vendors to phase out the use of artificial trans fats, which have been linked to heart disease and obesity.
Menus Without Calorie Counts
This wasn’t so much a ban as an addition. In 2008, Bloomberg made New York the first city to pass a law that required food-service providers to show calorie counts on menus. Along with his trans-fats ban, Bloomberg credits it with leading to a healthier populace.
The mayor tried mightily to ban the sales of large-size sodas and sugary drinks, perhaps Bloomberg’s highest-profile public-health failure. The city’s health board, which he controls, enacted the restriction in 2012, and it was supposed to go into effect earlier this year. But a court later ruled that the board exceeded its authority.
This kind of mentality would not go over well in places like Ohio and Pennsylvania.
So how will a super-rich white male fare in the Democrat primary?
Not well, friends. The left wing of the Democrat party is not going to take to Bloomberg. Bernie Sanders’ campaign manager said that “more billionaires seeking more political power surely isn’t the change America needs.”
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said: “There are folks that are trying to completely purchase our political system, running as Republicans and now tossing in their hats as Democrats in the field as well.”
“But what we’re here to say is that in a democracy, it shouldn’t matter how much money you have. What should matter is whether you vote, whether you caucus, whether you turn out. It’s the numbers. It’s the people. it’s the movement.”
Bloomberg’s entry into the race is a sign of trouble for the Democrats. It means that Bloomberg, along with tens of millions of other Americans, does not see any current Democrat candidates as strong enough to unseat president Trump.
Bloomberg has another problem – he has no charisma. President Trump will not let this go unnoticed. We all remember how he savaged ‘low energy’ Jeb Bush, to good effect.
President Trump already has ridiculed Bloomberg’s small stature by calling him “Little Michael”. This is just another way that Trump is putting down his opponent.
President Trump expressed his usual bravado, saying “Little Michael will fail … There’s nobody I’d rather run against than Little Michael.”
“I‘ve known Michael Bloomberg for a long time. He said a lot of great things about Trump. But I know Michael. He became just a nothing. He’s not going to do well, but I think he’s going to hurt [Joe] Biden, actually.”
“But he doesn’t have the magic to do well. … He’ll spend a lot of money. He has some really big issues, some personal problems, and he’s got a lot of other problems. But I know Michael Bloomberg fairly well. Not too well, but fairly well. Well enough. He will not do well. And if he did [enter the race], I’d be happy.”
However Bloomberg does have a lot of his own money and that is a big advantage. He has been spending heavily on Democrats for many years, including the successful effort recently to flip both houses of the Virginia legislature to Democrat control.
But money does not buy the presidency. In fact his wealth could have a reverse effect, particularly in the Democrat primaries. Meanwhile Associated Press reports:
Michael Bloomberg plans to skip early voting states like Iowa and New Hampshire if he launches a presidential bid and instead focus his efforts on the crush of states that vote on Super Tuesday and beyond. It’s a strategy that acknowledges the limitations of his likely entry into the race at this late stage and the opportunities afforded by the billionaire’s vast personal wealth.
Bloomberg adviser Howard Wolfson says other candidates already have a big head start in the first four states to vote — Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada — and Bloomberg needs to be realistic about where he can make up ground.
“If we run, we are confident we can win in states voting on Super Tuesday and beyond, where we will start on an even footing,” Wolfson said. Fifteen states and American Samoa vote in the March 3 contests.
This shows that Bloomberg is perhaps not really prepared to take on a full-time campaign. It is hard to say what he really is doing. This could all be yet another false campaign by Bloomberg.
Does it mean that he will run as an Independent to try and siphon votes away from president Trump?
He may. And we have to watch out for this. We know that Bloomberg hates president Trump and will do anything to defeat him.
Black Tennis Player Flips Out after Loss
A black female American tennis player named Alycia Parks shoved a white Canadian player named Katherine Sebov after Parks lost a match to Sebov.
This came after Parks angrily threw down her racket after losing. Parks then claimed that Sebov squeezed her hand too tightly in congratulating her so Parks ran after and tried to attack Sebov.
This is typical. For decades blacks have been murdering, raping, robbing and assaulting white people at astronomical rates and then claiming that blacks somehow are the victims of “racism”.
No, friends, blacks are the real racists. Just look at the crime statistics of blacks against other races to see the truth.
Then when a black tennis player allegedly gets her hand squeezed she attacks the white player. This shows how unbalanced blacks are. They are easily triggered to violence. That is precisely why they commit so much crime and violence; they cannot control themselves.
We do not even know if Parks’ hand was squeezed. This was probably just another hysterical black person claiming that she was somehow disrespected or harmed or ‘discriminated against’ like blacks claim every minute of every day, i.e., a white person looked at me the wrong way, squeezed my hand, didn’t smile at me, etc. After all Parks had expressed her anger just 15 seconds before by throwing her racket.
This attack on Sebov was just another example of black racism against a white person. Parks should be expelled from tennis for this incident. Racism has no place in professional tennis.
Here is another example of blacks constantly deceiving us about how they are treated:
In the 1990s there was a ‘scandal’ reported by the Fake News media involving the New Jersey state police. Blacks claimed that they were being pulled over by the cops at much higher rates than whites.
And it was true. But blacks didn’t want anyone to know that blacks drive at higher speeds, and more erratically, than white drivers. So they would naturally be pulled over at higher rates. Duh…
Schumer’s Electric Car Scam
Democrat US Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer wants Americans driving electric cars. He recently said in an article in The New York Times:
How would the plan work? First, it would give you a large discount on an American-made electric vehicle when you trade in a gas-powered car. Lower-income Americans could get an even bigger discount on a new vehicle or a discount on a used electric vehicle. In total, these discounts should result in 63 million fewer gas-powered cars on the road by 2030 and put America on a path to having 100 percent of new car sales be clean.
Second, the plan would make electric vehicles — and the necessary battery-charging infrastructure — accessible to all Americans, regardless of where they live and work. This would be accomplished by providing grants to states and cities to build charging stations, with a particular emphasis on low-income, rural and other underserved communities.
Third, the plan aims to establish the United States as the global leader in electric vehicle and battery manufacturing by providing grants to retool existing manufacturing plants in the United States and build new ones in this country that specialize in those technologies.
OK, so what is wrong with this?
Well, first, electric cars are an environmental disaster. Nikitas3.com calculates that electric cars use 2 to 10 times as much energy per mile as gasoline-powered cars. This happens since electricity is a highly “refined” resource and it is a law of physics that ‘it consumes energy to refine energy’.
Meanwhile electric cars can lose half of their power in frigid weather. They also operate inefficiently in really hot climates.
Second, Schumer’s plan “would give you a large discount on an American-made electric vehicle when you trade in a gas-powered car. Lower-income Americans could get an even bigger discount on a new vehicle or a discount on a used electric vehicle”.
This means that electric cars, which are much more expensive than gasoline cars, would need to be subsidized by taxpayers.
Why? If electric cars are so great, why aren’t people buying them without subsidies?
Answer: Because electric cars are terrible. They are extremely expensive and inefficient and have never been able to survive in the marketplace without subsidies. Meanwhile the manufacture of batteries for electric cars is very bad for the environment.
It is important to remember that ‘greenies’ are promoting electric cars because ‘greenies’ control our electric utilities through regulation. On the other hand ‘greenies’ have much less control over our oil and gas industries. And so they want our transportation system converted to electric power so that they can control it.
Why Donald Trump Jr. is a Conservative
The eldest son of President Donald J. Trump, Don Jr., is currently promoting his new book, “Triggered: How the Left Thrives on Hate and Wants to Silence Us.” On Tuesday, he spoke with legendary talk show host Michael Savage and discussed a key aspect of his political world view. Savage asked Don Jr. to explain why he is a conservative and how exactly his maternal grandparents’ life influenced his upbringing.
“I saw you give a great speech at a fundraiser in Beverly Hills,” Savage said at the start of that interview. “And in that speech, something you said stuck with me, which was your grandparents being from Czechoslovakia, being under the Soviet control and how it has shaped your worldview. Would you please tell the audience about that? It’s very important they hear this.”
Don Jr.’s mother, Ivana, grew up under Soviet rule in Czechoslovakia, He said that as a child, he would go back and visit his grandparents and was able to see life under communism and socialism vs. life capitalism from this experience.
“It’s a big part of the book, and they sort of say, ‘Hey, you know, Don how are you a conservative? You know you’re the son of a billionaire from New York City, you went to an Ivy League school, all these things, you’re not supposed to be, you’re a hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman,'” Don Jr. explained, “My mom escaped the communist Czechoslovakia you know? My grandfather who was a blue-collar electrician from there, he came over here and he saw the incredible blessings that we were bestowed as Americans in this country in our family. And he said, ‘You know this is great, but you have to see the other side.’ So they were very involved in my upbringing and I spoke Czech fluently by the time I was three. In the summer I’d go over there for four to six weeks.” and you know he was old school, he was an older guy.”
Don Jr. then shifted to explain that when he hears politicians like Sen. Bernie Sanders suggest that life under socialism would be better for America, it only emboldens him to fight.
“And guess what I’ve waited in those bread lines, Michael. I can assure you they’re not so glamorous,” he explained, alluding to previous comments from Sen. Sanders. They’re not what Bernie makes them out to be. I’ve seen what that system can do.”
“I look at my parents’ wedding picture when I was a kid, I’d be like, ‘That’s weird…there’s my mom and there’s my grandfather? Where’s my grandmother? And they’re telling me, ‘Well, she wasn’t allowed to be there because they wouldn’t let her out of the country with the grandfather for fear that they would defect.’ What kind of system doesn’t allow you to leave? It can’t be so wonderful,” he continued.
“And so, when I see that socialism becoming sort of a mainstream idea on the left, you see that sort of the delta between the two sides being so great now, and much grander seen before, it just strikes me it makes me fight so hard because I’ve actually seen what that does. I’ve lived it,” he said passionately.
