In the space of less than one year Democrats have gone from tacitly supporting an open-borders policy to vocally supporting it. Look at these excerpts from various sources. Breitbart News reported about 2020 Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders:
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is planning to halt deportations for all illegal aliens in federal custody, including those who are convicted murderers, sex offenders, sexual assailants, and drunk drivers.
In his national immigration plan released this week, Sanders — who once disavowed open borders and endorsed more detention space for border crossers — is now vowing to halt the deportation of all illegal aliens currently in deportation proceedings in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody, regardless of their criminal history.
In any given year, more than 6,600 convicted murderers and sex offenders are arrested by ICE and placed into deportation proceedings. Under Sanders’ plan, those criminal illegal aliens would have their deportations halted, allowing them to remain in the United States for an extended period of time.
This is just one example of thousands of Democrat politicians across the US supporting the most extreme immigration measures. And to illustrate what Sanders’ policy means here is Breitbart News reporting just one story out of thousands every year:
An illegal alien charged with child sexual abuse was released into the United States by Montgomery County, Maryland officials — a sanctuary county that routinely shields criminal illegal aliens from deportation.
According to ABC 7 News‘ Kevin Lewis, 48-year-old illegal alien Luis Fredy Hernandez-Morales was freed by Montgomery County officials rather than being turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for arrest and deportation.
Hernandez-Morales, according to Lewis, has been accused of molesting an 11-year-old girl and has been charged with child sexual abuse.
Friends, these stories are in the media every day and this is precisely why we conservatives want to control our immigration system and eject bad people promptly.
Yet Democrats do not even want to deport known criminals!
Meanwhile Breitbart News also reported:
American families must “accommodate the world’s ambition to be part of the future of America,” Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) told a pro-migration group on Thursday.
“There has to be an orderly process here, a process that really accommodates the world’s ambition to be part of the future of America,” he said, although “we cannot open our doors to everyone who wants to come through tomorrow.”
Durbin leads the Democrats’ immigration policies, but he did not say how many millions of foreigners should be accommodated in the United States.
A 2017 report by Gallup said that 150 million people want to be accommodated in the United States. The number may be far higher — 37 million people from just Central America want accommodation in the United States, the Gallup report noted.
OK, so Durbin says “we cannot open our doors to everyone who wants to come through tomorrow”. But you should not be fooled by this malarkey. Durbin is just a mouthpiece for Democrats to make it look like they are moderates on immigration. They are not… But they will say, “Senator Durbin speaks for all of us…” while Democrats do everything in their power to get open borders.
That Gallup poll is baloney. It is intended to assuage Americans that only 150 million people want to come here. That is nonsense. The figure is really 3 billion or more. We know that every poor person in the world wants to come here. Breitbart News reported:
But Durbin dismissed Americans’ rational worries about the financial and civic impact of diverse, mass migration into their stable and prosperous communities:
I think part of the resistance to immigration is primal. It’s a stranger. It’s a new and unfamiliar face. And the first reaction is “Am I all right? Am I going to be safe? Is this person a threat to me?” That’s part of the primal reaction against immigration.
In contrast, Durbin praised migrants, saying, “Many of them are in some respects even more ambitious and determined than we are in our lives, and they can make our lives better with their contribution.”
Actually the people hurt most by illegal immigration are poor Americans. Because poor immigrants virtually always settle in poor American neighborhoods. This causes problems for the people already there. Immigrants work for less money and thus depress wages. Immigrants also increase demand for housing. This has the effect of increasing rents in poor neighborhood through the natural law of supply and demand which says that the price for a commodity (like rent for housing) increases as demand increases.
Meanwhile the middle class is hurt when illegals settle in poor neighborhoods without skills, education or money. Illegals then send their kids to the public schools but do not pay anything for those schools. They collect welfare. They access every type of government program, all paid for through taxes on hard-working middle class Americans.
Naturally Democrats try to paint us conservatives as “anti-immigrant”. We are not. We want immigrants to come here through a regulated system, not in the chaotic way that they are coming in today.
Meanwhile Democrats are hiding the fact that millions of illegal immigrants have flown into the US on legal visas from all over the world and simply never take their flight back to their homelands.
And that many of those fly-in migrants get money wired to them from the US for their expensive airline tickets. This money is often obtained through welfare payments to illegals who already are here. So in effect US taxpayers are funding this type of illegal immigration. Breitbart News continued about Durbin:
“Durbin, as usual, dodges the fundamental question of immigration policy,” said Mark Krikorian, director of the Center for Immigration Studies:
… He says “we cannot open our doors to everyone who wants to come through tomorrow” — does that mean everyone who wants to come must be let in *eventually*, just not tomorrow? The World Bank reports that 3.4 billion people live on less than $5.50 a day. If they don’t all get to come here, which ones does he propose to exclude? And what does he propose to do about those who try to get around it (but are not violent criminals)? Is he willing to deport *any* non-violent illegal aliens simply because they violated our immigration limits? … immigration expansionists … favor unlimited immigration, but are too afraid to say so openly.
Krikorian also shut down Durbin’s portrayal of ordinary Americans as “primal,” saying:
By “primal” Durbin means to demean those who are uncomfortable with the current very high level of immigration and dismiss their concerns as unthinking and atavistic … the public’s impatience with such tactics is a big part of the reason Trump was elected. If Durbin and the rest of the political class had been willing to even partly acknowledge the public’s “primal” concerns, they wouldn’t have forfeited so much of their legitimacy and paved the way for a populist reaction.
In case you think that our conservative view of immigration is something new, you should know that all immigration, both legal and illegal, was halted between 1924 and 1965. Republican president Calvin Coolidge decided in 1924 that we needed to absorb the millions of LEGAL immigrants who came in the early 20th century.
There even was a famous thing called Operation Wetback in the 1950s that expelled 1.5 million illegal Mexicans from the US.
Then in 1965, the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 also known as the Hart–Celler Act was sponsored by US representative Emanuel Celler and US senator Philip Hart of Michigan, both liberal Democrats. This law was passed by huge majorities in both the US Senate and House. It was signed into law by left-wing US president Lyndon Johnson. And it naturally went way beyond what it was supposed to do by opening the floodgates for the illegal immigration that we see today.
This is how Democrats work. Democrats then claimed that the 1986 Simpson-Mazzoli immigration bill would fix everything. Wikipedia reported about Simpson-Mazzoli:
The Immigration Reform and Control Act altered U.S. immigration law, making it illegal to knowingly hire illegal immigrants and establishing financial and other penalties for companies that employed illegal immigrants. Then look at this from Wikipedia:
The act also legalized most illegal immigrants who had arrived in the country prior to January 1, 1982. Despite the passage of the act, the number of illegal immigrants in the United States rose from 5 million in 1986 to 11.1 in 2013.
See how the Democrats work? This bill claimed that we were going to seal the US border in return for legalizing illegal immigrants. But naturally the immigrants were legalized but the border was never sealed.
That is precisely why president Trump is trying to seal the border with a physical barrier. It is the only want to keep the hordes out. Meanwhile The Daily Caller reported:
The government of Mexico filed an amicus (or “friend of the court”) brief urging the Supreme Court to stop President Donald Trump’s attempt to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
Mexican consular officials have helped many of its nationals obtain protected status under DACA, according to the brief.
The justices will hear arguments in the dispute Tuesday.
The Mexican government is urging the Supreme Court to protect the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, telling the justices that supporting DACA recipients is an important goal of Mexican foreign policy.
Can you see the arrogance in this? Mexico wants to intervene in a US court case. And why?
Answer: Because Mexico is a failed socialist state that wants to dump tens of millions of its poor residents on the US.
Mexico has had a failed economy throughout the 20th century and into the 21st. Over the last 90 years Mexico has been controlled by a left-wing party called the PRI, which has destroyed the economy of Mexico in order to concentrate power in the hands of the elite leaders in Mexico City just like the Democrat socialists are doing in the US by concentrating power in Washington as much of the rest of America suffers.
