Nikitas3.com recently wrote in a column about Mitt Romney:
‘So we should watch not only for Mitt Romney to emerge from the nominating season as presidential material, but for Ann Romney to become a national figure as well. She is a dynamic and appealing lady whom the media may seek to discredit, although that would be difficult even for the vicious leftists in the Fourth Estate.’
Well, it only took a few days after those words were posted on this website for Hilary Rosen, a lesbian mother and a political consultant who advises the Democratic National Committee, to say on CNN that Ann Romney:
…“has actually never worked a day in her life. She’s never really dealt with the kinds of economic issues that a majority of the women in this country are facing in terms of how do we feed our kids, how do we send them to school and how do we — why we worry about their future.”
Never worked a day in her life? Ann Romney raised five sons!
By the way Hilary Rosen “never worked a day in her life” to produce her children. She adopted them.
Ann Romney’s sons seem like wonderful boys who are not in therapy or on drugs like so many children of leftist parents are. Like, say, Lindsey Lohan, that darling of the Follywood Left. Or Cher’s daughter having a sex-change operation. Or actor Carroll O’Connor’s son committing suicide. Or the wacky Kennedy children. And on and on. And on. The stories are endless.
Because Ann Romney was a real mother and Mitt Romney was a real father. You know, two parents of the opposite sex, which is the best for children.
And the phrase “never worked a day in her life” is intended as the most savage insult because Mrs. Romney is not “one of them” on the feminist left like Rosen.
Prominent Democrats immediately went into damage control over Rosen’s statement.
Obama campaign manager Jim Messina wrote: “I could not disagree with Hilary Rosen any more strongly. Her comments were wrong and family should be off limits. She should apologize.”
David Axelrod, Obama’s top strategist, wrote: “Also Disappointed in Hilary Rosen’s comments about Ann Romney. They were inappropriate and offensive.”
Stephanie Cutter, Obama’s deputy campaign manager, wrote: “Families must be off limits on campaigns, and I personally believe stay at home moms work harder than most of us do.”
The libs are running for cover because Democrats are always saying how only they care about “women”.
Yeah, right…
And remember that the Democrats are running for cover not because Rosen said the wrong thing. Because Democrats say the same thing behind closed doors about motherhood every day. They have nothing but contempt for women who stay at home and raise their children rather than fobbing the kids off to day care.
No, the mistake was that Rosen said it in public.
For several months now, we have heard the Democrat mantra about a Republican “war on women”. The left has brought this up only because Republicans are opposed to the radical feminist agenda like unlimited access to abortion, lesbian motherhood, and birth control that is subsidized by others.
Yet Republicans are pro-women in every way. The Republican party was the first to support women’s suffrage. The first woman on the US Supreme Court, Sandra Day O’Connor, was appointed by Ronald Reagan. The first woman to serve in the US congress was Republican Jeanette Rankin of Montana. And the first woman prime minister of Great Britain was conservative Margaret Thatcher.
No, the real “war on women” comes from the feminist left. They are the ones who are pushing for women to slog through life without a husband, often with children. Democrats are the ones who instruct women to take on the kinds of responsibilities and jobs that give women heart attacks and strokes, like men have traditionally had. They are the ones who are saying that women only can be satisfied and fulfilled if they have some prominent role in government or business or the arts.
Indeed to the feminist left a “woman” can never find happiness in the natural and simple things in life like her family, friends and faith.
This feminist agenda is in so many ways anti-woman that it is hard to know where to start. For instance single mothers and their children are vastly more likely to be poor and even to be victims of crime than married women. Yet the feminists promote single motherhood endlessly.
Indeed for the feminist left the debate really is about women getting two things – money and power. And this debate is being fomented by the feminist elite like Hilary Rosen who has money and lots of power.
But Rosen & Co. do not want to hear what really happens to millions of single women without money and power, or how much better off married women are statistically. Or how happy a woman like Ann Romney can be just raising her family. Because anger is part of feminism. And Ann Romney seems happy. So they must attack her.
For instance, why do Democrats hate Sarah Palin besides the fact that she is a conservative?
This hatred is driven by their radical, enraged feminist flank which is first jealous of Palin’s beauty (and never underestimate the catatonic inner rage this causes among the female gender). Second they hate the fact that Palin is married to a real man and raised her family and is happy with her family. Third they hate her for having five children. Fourth they hate her for not aborting her Downs Syndrome child. Fifth, Palin did not come up through the elite East Coast intellectual ranks (Harvard, Yale etc.) that leading feminists do.
But ultimately the hatred of Palin is an attack on a kind of “womanhood” that liberals despise. It is called “motherhood” and this is what Rosen’s comment really was about.
Indeed any woman who is not a briefcase-toting lawyer or a college professor or a political consultant or the leader of the local Rotary or a known artist is seen as a lesser person to the feminist left. Because “working” does not apply to raising your children and getting eternal satisfaction from it.
It will be interesting to see how this debate evolves. The Media Left are going to seek to bury this story as soon as possible so that the Democrats can get back their Republican-bashing ways over “women’s” issues.
But Hilary Rosen really has unleashed a monster that is going to negate much of the angry spin that the Democrats have recently been putting on Republicans on the issue of gender.
This story is far from over. In fact it is just beginning.
