Those us who have faith in God are under attack in America today. It seems strange because most people throughout history have believed in a Supreme Being.
Think about God. He is someone whom we look up to. He is perfect. He is sinless. What more could a person want as a role model?
Nothing…
Imagine that your father or mother is as perfect as a person can be. Wouldn’t you look up to him or her instead of looking up to your drunken, lying neighbor?
Of course. Because it is in our best interests to revere those who are closer to God’s perfection.
Now look sideways at your fellow man. Can you say the same thing, that you would look for solace to your fellow man instead of up to God? Would you rely on your fellow man in every instance?
In some cases, yes you can.
But depending on where you live and the era you live in, you may not be able to depend on any of your fellow citizens at all. They may all be corrupt and sinful and will make you the same.
Are you going to look to an atheist pornographer or a drug dealer for rescue from the world’s woes?
No. They would just as soon cut your throat.
What is the only other direction you can look for answers in this troubled world besides up to God or, possibly, in some cases, sideways at your fellow man?
You can look down. And that needs no further explanation.
So… look up, look sideways, look down. Those are the options.
And looking up is the only way that works every single time.
There are millions of committed atheists in America today. They only look sideways and more often down. But if you were among atheists, would you look sideways to a fellow atheist for answers?
No you would not. And even the atheists cannot look to their own for solace in times of strife. They would only see the same darkness that they themselves represent. Just look at the atheist mass murder in Hitler’s Germany or in Stalin’s Soviet Union. There was nowhere to run, nobody to turn to. Not even God could protect the victims.
But if the leaders themselves were God-ly Christians the crises never would have existed.
When the World Trade Center fell on that awful day in 2001 New Yorkers by the thousands rushed into churches to pray. But many did not even know where a church was located, what faith it was, or what to pray except perhaps for ‘Our Father…’ which they learned in childhood. Or they did not know how to reflect a weakness before God, i.e., that only God truly can save us.
Because New Yorkers are largely secular and atheist. Until the going gets rough. Then they call out to God. For a short period. Then things get back to normal.
So how do we know that God indeed exists and that He created the universe?
Just look around friends. And consider our Christian view – that God certainly created the world – and then the atheist view – that our world evolved out of nothingness and chaos.
OK, look at the sun. It warms the earth. It gives us light. How did our planet just so happen to locate itself in the void of space the perfect distance away from the sun – not too close and not too far?
The atheists say that it was just happenstance that came out of the chaos of the universe and the Big Bang theory.
Uh, sorry, friends. It is no accident. It is far too perfect to have been an accident.
Look at the sun itself. How did such a ball of light and warmth come into being to illuminate the darkness and to warm our earth in order to make it habitable?
Oh, that. That is nothing. It was just something that emerged from the void, say the atheists.
No it didn’t…
Consider the Big Bang theory itself. That theory needs God to explain it. Because the Big Bang theory says that the whole universe exploded out of nothing.
Sorry but that is not possible under the atheists’ own scientific view of the world, that the world is made of matter and that matter cannot be created or destroyed.
OK, look at how the earth spins and gives us night and day. And that man needs to work part of the daily cycle and to sleep the other part.
Isn’t it interesting that there is conveniently a day and a night…
And by the way, day and night make life more interesting too. What would life be like if it were always noon or always midnight?
Much less interesting, even frightening in the case of darkness.
The atheists say that day and night are just another coincidence that came out of nothing and out of the chaos of the universe.
Uh, sorry. It is no accident. It is far too perfect to have been an accident.
Look at how the earth circles the sun and give us the beautiful seasons. That is just sheer luck, say the atheists.
No it isn’t. Look at a lovely Summer day at the beach, how ideal it is, the warm sand, the refreshing sea. Look at the beautiful Winter snows or the Autumn colors. Just a chance occurrence, say the atheists.
No they are not. They are far too perfect. They are God’s gift to man.
Look at water. Where did water come from? Water is the miracle substance that makes life possible. Who could have dreamed up the idea of water out of nothing? Imagine you had never seen water and needed to create a life-sustaining substance. Who would have conceived of water and created its molecular structure and all of its magnificent properties?
Answer: Nobody could have. God made water. And He made the rivers and streams that give us water and recycle it endlessly for our use.
How about clouds and rain? To distribute the water over the land? Clouds and rain are just something that came from chaos, say the atheists.
No they are not. They are far too perfect to have been created by anyone but God. And the beauty of clouds is just another of God’s gifts to man.
How about rainbows, made when water droplets refract sunlight?
Oh, that is just a random act of nature say the atheists.
No it’s not… It is far too special and beautiful.
Man has two hands and ten fingers, perfect tools to build a world out of the natural world that God gave us.
No, say the atheists, those fingers and hands are just a result of the chance occurrences of evolution. They just ‘happened’.
No they didn’t…
Look at how a man and a woman merge their lives to create children. And how a man and a woman are the ideal balance to bring a child successfully into the world.
Oh, that just emerged from chaos, the idea that the man and woman are necessary to procreation, say the atheists.
No it is not. It is a divine relationship created by God that produces the most stable children with a balanced approach to life.
How is it that the human birth process just so happens to evenly produce boys and girls. This is a perfect way to perpetuate the species, is it not? It certainly is an act of God.
No, say the atheists, it is just chance that this happens.
Look at how wonderful children are. They make us smile and give us joy as we get older and prepare for eternity. They are a gift from God.
No, say the atheists. They are just part of irrational nature.
Look at the human eye, the most accurate camera in the world. It just evolved out of nothing, say the atheists.
No, friends. God created the most perfect camera of all. No mechanical camera has ever come close.
Look at trees and the wonder of wood. It is an amazing substance that has given man millennia of use for building and for making fires for warmth and cooking. And great beauty in the form of furniture and art and pipe organs and interior decorations and railings for staircases and balustrades. And on and on.
And of course according to the secularists trees are just an accident of the cosmos…
No they are not. They are an awesome creation of God.
Think about our world. It is full of resources – oil, copper, iron ore, zinc, natural gas, uranium, limestone, coal. And much, much more.
Oh, those are just random creations of the universe, say the atheists. They have nothing to do with God.
Then how did those resources just happen to be loaded into a planet with water and with night and day and with men and women and with sunshine and with all the other things that make life possible?
It is just random, say the atheists.
Which it is not.
God truly exists.
