Within 24 hours of the Aurora, Colorado theater killings Barack Obama announced that he would be visiting the city and US senator Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey was proposing new gun-control laws – along with every other Democrat in America.
In other words the smoke had barely cleared and Democrats were seeking to take maximum political advantage of the tragedy.
These are classic Democrat tactics. They use every trick in the book to get their way, and every underhanded political strategy. It is heartless the manner in which they operate in situations like this.

Remember Obama racing off to exploit the shooting of Democrat congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in an appearance that almost seemed like a campaign rally?
Of course. And this came after Liberal Media thugs, within hours of the shooting, were blaming conservative talk radio, Tea Parties and Sarah Palin for the shooting because Giffords is a Democrat.
Remember when Democrat Minnesota US senator Paul Wellstone was killed in a plane crash and the Democrats turned his memorial service into a pep rally? It was disgusting.
But these are cold, calculating people. They “never let a tragedy go to waste” as one Obama operative once suggested.
Did you see George W. Bush running to Virginia Tech to attend the memorial service in April 2007 after the murders there?
No. Because they held the memorial about 24 hours after the shooting. They hardly even waited for the blood to dry. Because the libs at Tech, like liberals everywhere, cannot wait to make a big, emotional show about every crisis and to turn it to their political advantage. And they laid it on thick at the Tech memorial despite the fact that the killings should have been and could have been easily prevented.
How?
Because many people on the campus itself, and including a Virginia judge, knew that the Tech killer was a crazy person. But nobody acted. Because they are left-wing softies who never make a “judgment” about anyone because that would be too “judgmental” and might hurt someone’s feelings.
How about the Columbine High School murderers of 1999? Many people including the local police knew that these two thugs were dangerous, that they were planning something bad. They even had posted death threats on the internet. Here is what one killer wrote:
"Sometime in April next year, me and V [Klebold] will get revenge and we'll kick natural selection up a few notches…It'll be like L.A Riots, the Oklahoma bombing, WWII, Vietnam, Duke and Doom all mixed together…I want to leave a lasting impression on the world."
Oh, nothing there! No sir… Just a couple’a kids! Because in the world of political correctness you can’t question anyone’s behavior because that might challenge their right to “do their own thing!”
Like killing people.
And Obama and the Democrats are manipulating this Colorado shooting to their point of view. Because Obama knew he needed something to distract from the economy and this was it.
What is most interesting is what we are finding out about the Aurora killer James Holmes. And we are soon going to find out that somebody, somewhere knew about this guy – maybe many people – but did nothing just like in the Columbine and Tech cases. Already there is one witness claiming that someone helped Holmes by leaving an emergency entrance to the theater slightly ajar.
In other words, as in all these types of cases, there is much more that we need to know.
For instance it now has come out that a Colorado gun club owner was preparing to deny Holmes’ request to join the club. Although Holmes filled out his application form properly, the owner became suspicious of Holmes from a strange telephone answering-machine message at Holmes’ residence. The owner even had told members to watch for Holmes at the next meeting. Holmes never showed up.
This is the kind of vigilance that gun-rights advocates always exercise because they know that gun ownership is a privilege to be taken seriously. And this is the type of vigilance that you never get in thousands of cases including the Virginia Tech case or the Columbine High School murders even after streams of clues were dropped by the perpetrators.
Here’s another significant factor: Aurora, Colorado has strict gun-control laws. So nobody in the theater was armed and able to take out the killer. This is Aurora Code Sec. 94-146a:
"It shall be unlawful for any person to fire, shoot, or discharge any firearm; crossbow; bow and arrow; slingshot; blowgun; BB gun or pellet gun, whether powered with gunpowder, compressed air, or gas cartridges; gas gun; or any weapon whatsoever within the city limits. However, such discharge, firing, or shooting by any law enforcement officer, federal, state, county, or city, in the course of his or her official duty shall not be deemed a violation of this subsection, and such discharge, firing, or shooting at commercial, private, or public shooting ranges or by authorized classes of schools or universities at all times under proper instruction and supervision as may be authorized or permitted by law shall not be deemed a violation of this subsection."
Boy, those gun-control laws sure work well, don’t they! Just like Virginia Tech was a “gun-free zone”.
Yet the Democrats are going to argue for more and more gun control and more “gun-free zones”. They want to make it harder for law-abiding citizens to get or use weapons. Meanwhile it almost never is reported in the Liberal Media – except for the occasional Armed Grandma story – about the tens of thousands of crimes that are prevented every year because criminals were faced with an armed victim.
This brings to mind the old parable: A robber is planning to break into one of two houses. One house has a car in the driveway with a National Rifle Association bumper sticker and the other driveway has a car with an Audubon Society bumper sticker. Which house will the robber target?
The answer is obvious. And as the old saying goes, “In confronting a criminal, a gun in the hand is infinitely more valuable that a cop on the phone.”
Thus if we make the criminals more afraid then society will be better off. If we cower in fear of the criminals, then they will flourish. And the best way to make criminals afraid is to allow citizens to bear firearms and to use them.
But don’t forget how the Democrats operate. Every time a shop owner kills an armed robber the liberals go for full prosecution of the shop owner. So that other shop owners won’t kill criminals. This empowers criminals and the Democrats who routinely defend criminals.

Obama said: The (Aurora) Police Chief, who — we had an opportunity to speak over the phone — Chief Oates has been dealing with as difficult a set of circumstances as any law enforcement officer deals with, and he and his officers have done everything right, by the book, with great courage and great determination. And so we are very proud of them. Comment: Uh, let’s find out what these police knew about Holmes. Remember that the local police in the Columbine murders knew about the suspects and did nothing.
Obama said: Scripture says that “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more. Neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Comment: The fake Christian Obama citing the Bible. What a phony.
Obama said: I had a chance to visit with each family, and most of the conversation was filled with memory. It was an opportunity for families to describe how wonderful their brother, or their son or daughter was, and the lives that they have touched, and the dreams that they held for the future. Comment: So why don’t you go visit the families in Chicago, your hometown, where hundreds are murdered every year. Oh, wait, that would not be a good PR move for your re-election.
Obama said: I also tried to assure them that although the perpetrator of this evil act has received a lot of attention over the last couple of days, that attention will fade away. Comment: No, it won’t. The Democrats are going to bring up this shooting every day for months for political purposes.
Obama said: Some of the stories are remarkable. You see young people who’ve come in (to the hospital) and just two days ago, or 36 hours ago, or even 24 hours ago, it wasn’t certain whether they’d make it. And now suddenly, their eyes are open, they’re alert and they’re talking. Comment: This is the great health-care system that Obama is about to destroy with ObamaCare.
Obama said: And I don’t think this story has been heard — at least I hadn’t read it yet — but I wanted to share it with you. When the gunman initially came in and threw the canisters, he threw them only a few feet away from Allie and Stephanie, who were sitting there watching the film. Allie stood up, seeing that she might need to do something or at least warn the other people who were there. And she was immediately shot. And she was shot in the neck, and it punctured a vein, and immediately she started spurting blood. Comment: Oh, here’s a sensitive description from the president of the United States… This guy is an idiot.
Obama said: Once the SWAT team came in, they were still trying to clear the theater. Stephanie then, with the help of several others, carries Allie across two parking lots to where the ambulance is waiting. Comment: Gee, thanks Mr. President for making us all re-live this horrible tragedy.
Obama said: So thank you. God bless you. God bless all who helped to respond to this tragedy. And I hope that over the next several days, next several weeks, and next several months, we all reflect on how we can do something about some of the senseless violence that ends up marring this country…. Comment: Yes, the senseless violence spurred on by the senseless violence in Hollywood movies made by people who slavishly support you, Mr. President.
