More White House Nonsense about ‘Math and Science’

OK, here comes more Obama education baloney. Associated Press recently reported:

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration unveiled plans Wednesday to create an elite corps of master teachers, a $1 billion effort to boost U.S. students' achievement in science, technology, engineering and math.

The program to reward high-performing teachers with salary stipends is part of a long-term effort by President Barack Obama to encourage education in high-demand areas that hold the key to future economic growth — and to close the achievement gap between American students and their international peers.

Teachers selected for the Master Teacher Corps will be paid an additional $20,000 a year and must commit to participate multiple years. The goal is to create a multiplier effect in which expert educators share their knowledge and skills with other teachers, improving the quality of education for all students.

Well, there it is. Just another billion dollars. No problem for Obama.

Friends, this is just another socialist ploy to get more taxpayer money for public school teachers who are overwhelmingly Democrats and who are doing a lousy job already and have been doing a terrible job for decades.

What we really need is major education reform, not more money for the system that exists. And of course conservatives have been advocating reform for decades.

And by the way, the federal government is broke.

In fact the best way to promote math and science it to stop the Democrats’ War on Math and Science.

How? Easy:

First, we must cease with the ‘global warming’ charade which today is presented as “science”.

Because if you refer to an unproven and highly politicized theory like ‘global warming’ as “settled science” as Al Gore and most of his academic and media friends do, then you are debasing science right off the bat.

Then the ‘warming’ alarmists ignore tens of thousands of real scientists all over the globe who have challenged the veracity of ‘global warming’. That too is a corruption of science and open inquiry, and leads to a distorted picture of what science is.

Second, you surely have noticed decades of liberal efforts now to get “more women and minorities into science”. This has occurred at the same time that white European/American men, who have excelled for millennia at math and science, are marginalized, maligned and ignored; white male enrollment at universities has plunged because of discrimination against white men while females, gays, blacks, latinos etc. get scholarships and preferences; while “girls” and “minorities” win many of the rigged science contests.

Thus the more you discriminate against the white men who have formed the backbone of science, math and ingenuity for thousands of years, the more our nation falls behind.

And the more these Obama-loving universities promote their irrelevant agendas like radical homosexuality, fake environmentalism, multiculturalism, postmodernism and all the rest of academia’s War on Rationality, the less science and math we will have.

How about all the millions of college graduates today who have mountains of debt and useless degrees in modern dance or gender studies or ‘environmental science’ (i.e., future ‘warming’ alarmists)? Perhaps if they had studied something useful they would have jobs today.

But the leftists who control our universities now have passed through millions of students with worthless and very expensive college degrees.

This is another arm of the “educational establishment” at work, misleading millions of kids and ruining their lives. And if you suggest that these schools teach basic math, science, history etc., the educators call you every name in the book. And then they want $1 billion to start fixing the problem.

And of course Obama’s answer to all this is typical – give them the $1 billion, thus diverting even more money to his friends in academia.

Here is what Obama said:

"I'm running to make sure that America has the best education system on earth, from pre-K all the way to post-graduate. And that means hiring new teachers, especially in math and science."

So there it is… After Obama’s teacher union cronies have undermined American public education and blocked every reform to make schools better, he said we must focus on “hiring new teachers…” You hear this over and over and over from Democrats.

This is the classic socialist strategy: More tax money, more power and more jobs for the unions who overwhelmingly contribute to Democrat politicians. And zero reform.

Associated Press reported:

An aide to Rep. John Kline, R-Minn., chairman of the House Education and the Workforce Committee, noted that the federal government already has more than 80 teacher quality programs and said it would be foolish to pump money into programs that may be duplicative or unproductive.

"Republicans share the president's goal of getting better teachers in the classroom," said Kline spokeswoman Alexandra Sollberger. "However, we also value transparency and efficient use of taxpayer resources."

Good. Someone is seeing through Obama’s potemkin scheme. Of course it is a Republican.

Obama’s education secretary Arne Duncan said:

"This initiative has nothing to do with politics. It's absolutely in our country's best long-term economic interest to do a much better job in this area."

Oh, that’s interesting. Who said the plan has anything “to do with politics” anyway?

Answer: Everyone knows it, that this plan is purely political because it is being proposed by Obama. Duncan’s defensive tone speaks volumes.

Associated Press reported:

… Duncan said he expected the two parties to come together to support achievement in areas of high demand

Of course! The Republicans are always supposed roll over and play dead because this program is “for the children” and for the betterment of America!

Baloney. It is just another boondoggle when the problem is Democrat policies and policymakers in the first place.
