9/11 Attacks Should Have Been Prevented

I had decided after the 10th anniversary of 9/11 that I was not going to write about the attack any more because it had been written about so many times. Yet we continue to have small-scale attacks and they are the result of exactly the kind of laxity that led to 9/11. So here I am again, writing about 9/11.

One of the smaller attacks happened on the 11th anniversary on September 11, 2012 with the terrorist assault on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya which killed two Navy SEALs – Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty – along with the ambassador and another consulate employee. It reminds us of the dismal situation in Libya today.

Independent.co.uk reports that ‘As world attention focused on the coup in Egypt and the poison gas attack in Syria over the past two months, Libya has plunged unnoticed into its worst political and economic crisis since the defeat of Gaddafi two years ago. Government authority is disintegrating in all parts of the country…’ (end of independent.co.uk excerpt)

This disintegration in Libya has cut that nation’s oil exports by 80%, and this is exactly what we conservatives warned about – that these uprisings are not about liberation but are intended to destabilize the Middle East to allow Islamic radicals to take over.

Yet Hillary Clinton and Obama both supported the ‘Arab Spring’ uprisings in Egypt and Libya and Hillary even famously laughed about the murder by Muslim rebels of Libya’s authoritarian leader Moammar Gaddafi, who was keeping Libya stable.

But this was no laughing matter; the facts show what a serious situation it has become. And it proves once again that Hillary Clinton had no business being secretary of state. She is a rank amateur and she never should be US president.

Now let’s go back further. We had the 9/11 attacks in the first place because of the same mindset of not taking serious issues seriously. Because after the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993 that blew up the parking garage underneath the North Tower, Hillary’s husband, president Bill Clinton, should have treated terrorism seriously but did not. For 8 full years terrorism was virtually ignored. The WTC attackers even got civilian trials. Meanwhile the Clinton administration’s FBI ignored repeated red flags and reports about suspicious Middle Eastern males taking flying lessons in Arizona and Florida.

Thus the Bush administration, which took office in January 2001 just 8 months before 9/11, received very little information on terrorism when it should have received a library-full. This is why 9/11 happened when it easily could have and should have been prevented.

We conservatives have been warning for decades about our national security under the Democrats. Just look at the April 15, 2013 terrorist attack on the Boston Marathon. That too never should have happened. The attack’s mastermind, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, even had been interviewed by FBI after he had been reported to have visited a terrorist enclave in Russia. Yet after the interview he was able then to build two bombs in his apartment in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This is shocking.

But in today’s emasculated, weak and politically-correct FBI, military and national security apparatus terrorists can easily slip under the radar screen. While no further attacks happened under Bush after 9/11, here are the rest of the attacks that have come under a sleeping Obama administration, all of which could have been easily prevented:

*The attempted May 1, 2010 Times Square car bomb in New York City which failed to detonate only by luck. The perpetrator, Faisal Shahzad, a Pakistan-born Muslim, was able to build this massive car bomb in Connecticut, to hide from security officials for two days afterward and then to board a flight to the Middle East, where he was captured just before takeoff.

This bombing attempt and Shahzad’s boarding of the airplane came after this young Middle Eastern Muslim male (security red flag) had made many trips to Pakistan (red flag), was on a terror watch list for a currency violation (red flag) and who purchased his airline ticket at the last minute (red flag) with cash (red flag) just two days after he tried to blow up Times Square.

Worse, before the identity of the Times Square bomber was known Obama-supporting New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg conjectured that the bomber was not a Muslim radical but “someone upset with the health-care bill” which had recently been signed into law.

Thus Bloomberg did what our security officials are doing at airports. He essentially “profiled” the potential suspect – without one shred of evidence – as a white middle-aged American conservative, like the elderly white lady in the wheelchair who gets extra scrutiny at the airport. This was so utterly preposterous as to be laughable… if it were not so frightening.

*On Christmas Day 2009 a black Nigerian named Omar Farouk Abdulmutallab boarded a flight in Holland bound for Detroit. Toward the end of the flight Abdulmutallab tried to detonate a bomb in his underwear but failed only because passengers stopped him. Abdulmutallab had a string of security red flags – a long history of terrorist ties, a warning from his own father to international intel officials about his son’s radical associations, and he bought his airline ticket with cash.

Yes indeed, he had the bomb in his underwear. What a sharpie! That’s a good way to get around today’s airport security. Just hide the bomb in your clothing! Meanwhile Amsterdam security officials probably were frisking caucasian college girls from Texas and performing special intrusive interviews with World War II veterans.

*The November 2009 murders at Ford Hood in Texas in which a radical Muslim US Army major, who was well known to Army officials for his extremist views, was not singled out in order not to “profile” a Muslim and went on to kill 13 US military personnel. This is a perfect example of our emasculated, politically-correct military under the Democrats.

*The May 2009 murder of Army private William Long in Little Rock, Arkansas by a radical Muslim. The killer was Carlos Bledsoe, a black American convert to Islam who was known by the name Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad. Bledsoe was well known to American intel officials.

Oh, gee, too bad he wasn’t a Tea Party member. Then the government would have had him in under surveillance, in custody or up on charges.

This, friends, is Obama’s America. Over and over security officials with clear knowledge of bad people fail to protect us while we are told that we need a massive government data grab like the PRISM project at the NSA, or airport-wide security procedures that finger every flying passenger as a suspect rather than profiling those most likely to commit terrorist acts.

This is the great crisis in our national security. The attack of September 11, 2001 never should have happened in the first place. If Clinton had treated terrorism with any degree of seriousness, it easily would have been stopped.

Of course less than 6 weeks after the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993 Clinton’s forces were moving ahead with full force… against 76 Christians living peacefully in Waco, Texas, leading to their deaths simply because their leader had been accused of having some illegal weapons.

Appalling. And Clinton never suffered politically for that attack. He let his attorney general Janet Reno take the heat and the American media played along.

Friends, our nation appears to be safe from big 9/11 type attacks, but that is a mirage. Because these smaller attacks are continuing and they should not. It is time for a major investigation into Democrat laxity on the issue. Because we all know that little things eventually can add up to much bigger things.
